he exclaimed, pulling out a piece of paper and rushing over to show me. I knelt down to get a better look. The drawing was simple, but unmistakable: Joe had drawn himself and Liam standing next to a racecar at the track. Joe’s stick figure had a huge smile on its face, and Liam’s was taller, a bit more detailed, with a cap on his head and a wrench in his hand. “See?” Joe said, pointing. “That’s me, and that’s Liam! We’re fixing the car together. And look, I even drew the racetrack!”

Clark asked. "Yes you are very very kind, I will tell my mom how good you are." Joey answered. "You know what, I will show you my drawings." He added and removed his bag and started bringing out his books. "You see." Joey said and showed his simple drawings to Clark. Clark flipped through the pages. "Wow, you also love drawings?" Clark asked. "Yes, I love drawings, I find peace in it." Joey answered. Clark chuckled. "You found peace in it? Joey that's you talking like you are going through some stuffs, you seem to have the best mom, you don't suppose to have any problem."

“I may have… sort of… kidnapped Dr. Hyder.” Despite the seriousness of the situation, the visual of Dr. Hyder being kidnapped made me laugh. I could think of few things in this world less likely than Dr. Hyder falling victim to a kidnapping by anyone, much less a warrior like Joey. “Okay, funny. What did you really do?” Joey looked at me sheepishly. “I kidnapped Dr. Hyder.” I studied his face. “Wait… you aren’t serious?” Joey continued to look at me straight-faced.

"Calm down. I'm not going to eat you." Joey looked at me with tears in his eyes. "I-I won't mind if M-Miss L-Lia wanted to eat me. A-And also a-as a fan, I-I won't mind if M-Miss Lia started d-dating anyone." I looked at him with my forehead creased, so he quickly shook his hands. "Do we look like we're dating?" Joey shook his head. "N-Not really. B-But since M-Miss Lia i-is really pretty, t-there's no way people w-would leave you behind." He gulped. "B-But is there someone that y-you like?"

Karen and Tres’s father shook hands and exchanged pleasantries. “Sup, James?” said Joey with a smirk. He punched his shoulder playfully. “Same old, same old. Missed you, bro.” Joey nodded. “Me too. So, you’re Tres?” the boy mistakenly asked Matt. Tres’s brother shook his head. “No, I’m actually cool. Four-eyes there is Tres.” “Shut up!” snapped Tres before turning to Joey. “How’s the tablet?” “Awesome,” the boy said, his eyes gazing far off into some unknown distance. “Thank you, for real.”

Jett was suddenly under my feet, wanting to leave with me. I grinned at Jett. "Grant, call him." "Jett, here boy." Grant whistled. Jett did as instructed and ran toward Grant. We were working on training him, but he was still a work in progress. Shutting the barn door, I examined my surroundings for threats before I made my way back to the house. I stiffened when something moved in the forest. With his gun hanging on his shoulder, Joey emerged from the trees with a crooked smile on his full lips. "It's just me."

For the reason alone, that I won’t be getting this golden chance again. I glance over my shoulder and see Joey sitting on the bed, diligently working on a puzzle of a bird. He’s been oddly cooperative since we left Vector’s mansion, hardly saying a word or throwing any tantrums like most kids his age would occasionally do. I walk over and sit down beside him. He looks up at me and smiles. “Are you hungry, Lizzy?” I shake my head. “No. Are you?” “No. But it’s Saturday.” It takes me a moment to realize what he is suggesting. I smile and kiss his forehead. “Of course. I’ll be right back. You stay in the room, don’t go anywhere, okay?”

Leo cheered, skidding to a halt beside my chair and thrusting the paper right into my lap. I looked down at the drawing, a soft, involuntary smile breaking across my face. It was drawn in bold, vibrant colors. In the center was a stone castle with blue flags on the turrets. Standing in the grass out front were three stick-figure people holding hands. On the left was a figure with black hair in a red dress labeled Mommy. On the right was a broad figure colored in black crayon labeled Mr. Tyson. And right between them, holding both of their hands with a yellow smiley face, was a smaller figure labeled Leo.

My mind went back to Owen, to Jamie, and to the little life inside me. AUSTIN’S POV Jamie sat on the rug with his legs spread wide, sticking out his tongue a little as he focused on his drawing. I watched him from the chair. Then I noticed something. Jamie had drawn three tall figures. Adults. He always drew just two. Me and Zoe. Sometimes he added himself between us, holding both our hands. I leaned forward. “Hey, champ,” I said quietly, “who’s the third person?” Jamie glanced up. “Uncle Owen.”

They got up and came towards us. Joey got out too and stopped staring at the floor and that was it from her side. »Come on, come on Joey!« I had given up the habit of saying " Jo sie " within 24 hours because she didn't react to it at all at the moment. She walked slowly, but she walked, that was something. “What's going on?” Dwayne looked quite shocked and didn't dare come up to us. He stood rooted to the side and we walked from the driveway to the front door.
