I found them at a sporting goods store and figured he'd need them if he ever came to a game. "He did!" Quincy says, letting me go. "He cries when I try to take them off. It's pretty funny." She scoops him up in her arms. He makes an unhappy sound when his noisemaker falls to the floor, but Quincy ignores him and collects her purse off a chair before making her way back to me. Chance finally gets distracted from his lost toy and looks up at me. As soon as he catches my eye, he gets a giant grin on his face.

I say out loud looking around the building, I don’t know how I was getting these feelings from this place, but something was telling me while we were at the village, something bad had happened. I said, nodding and we took our game pads again. "Ohh...they are about to begin another match!" Brandon said, tapping Aramis on the arms as they both hovered around us. The game began and this time Joey ambushed me unexpectedly as he began shooting and my energy began draining. My eyes widened in shock and as soon as I recovered, I rushed to hide in a corner as I ran to the roof of the building. Joey stood at the entrance of another building, glancing around for me but I suprised him by reigning bullets on him until his stats turned red, indicating that his energy had drained completely as I screamed out in excitement.

A crack resonates throughout my body, and the terror that has been squeezing my heart in a tight fist lets go a bit. I dash to the cute bunk bed. Joey is in the bottom one, so I have to squat to get a good look at him. He looks just as calm in his sleep as he usually does, and it crushes every cell in my body to know that he just lost his whole family and has no clue. How will he handle the loss? Will he even understand what to do about it? Will he cry or grow up to hate them for leaving him so soon? I don’t have any of the answers. I don’t want them either. Because right now what I think hardly matters. Joey is safe and sound and far away from the heart-breaking reality.

I put my hands on the table and took a deep breath, "One question at a time guys... To answer it simply, Joey is joining the school from Monday." Everyone looked at me confused. "Wait Mia, Joey did not go to school before? I thought, he used to go to school back in his town. That's unbelievable... But what does that have to do with your happiness? I don't understand it." Valentino finally said confused scratching the back of his head. "You don't understand it because there is this thing called brain and you use it to understand things. And I'm sure you are in lack of it," I again looked around the table, "Look guys, what I'm trying to say is Joey is joining our school from Monday."

Joey is my friend but now I am rethinking it. Joey looked down at the ground, his jaw clenched tight. When he raised his head again, something in his eyes had changed. It wasn’t hope or regret anymore, it was something else. Something that made my chest tighten. Joey’s expression shifted. It was no longer nervous or hopeful, but oddly calm in a way that made my skin crawl.
