He was currently leaning too close to her, a predator testing the fences. ​I approached silently, stepping into their orbit just as Vos laughed at something she said. ​“Andrea,” I said, my voice cutting through their conversation. ​She turned. For a split second, before her mask slammed into place, I saw it—a flash of recognition, perhaps even relief. ​“Ethan,” she said, her tone cool. “I see you decided to brave the lions’ den solo.” ​“I find I move faster without baggage,” I replied, turning my gaze to Vos. “Julian. I didn’t know you were a patron of the arts. I thought you preferred asset liquidation to preservation.”

Scar’s breath was uneven; he looked like he had just seen a ghost, and he was unusually quiet. “Speak up!” I yelled. “Something gruesome happened.” Jackson’s voice was eerily calm. “What happened?” Scar’s gaze was darting between me and Jackson before he finally said it. “Lexi escaped.”

It suddenly occurred to her that she still had a long way to go when she remembered that she was going to become the personal stripper of the owner of this club, who appeared to be feared by all and looked dangerous. Though he was handsome, tall, and had broad shoulders, his looks were usually fierce and scary. "What's going to happen to me, what am I going to do? Who is going to save me from this mess?" She asked no one but herself. "Nobody, girl, just do as you are told and you will survive here." Her bunkmate said, stretching out her head to look at Jessica. A scream ripped through her throat as her nails dug into his skin from clutching him so tightly. Quickly, Jackson turned around and let out his own girlish scream at the shadow. "Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. It's a ghost!" "I'm not a ghost." The figure deadpanned. The male next to her suddenly fell to the ground, making Ava stumble as she let go of his arm. She winced at the small red hand prints she accidentally created on his arm. "Jackson?" He didn't respond and looked unconscious. "Did you faint?" She whispered to him.

Then . A tremor passed through Scott. His head twitched, eyes opening impossibly wide. And then he screamed, arching his back, arms flailing. Smoke spewed from his shoulders. Jesse’s stomach clenched as he smelled burnt flesh. Forgetting about the triangle and what it had done to Scott, he lurched forward, slipped . . .

I whip my face sideways to break it, shoving him away. “Get away from me!” I scream, raising a hand and slap his face as hard as I can. The sound echoes in the hallway, but he doesn’t stop. The slap only makes Tony angrier, more aggressive. He mumbles something about me being a whore, pawing at my body and trying to put his mouth on me again. I let out a scream- I’m fucking panicking, my wolf ready to tear through- and then suddenly, Tony’s body lurches backwards, away from mine. Jax. He rips Tony away from me by the collar, slamming him up against the wall. Tony’s body collides with a thud, and then Jax has a forearm pressed to his throat, pinning him in place.

For real it felt like no one was paying attention. Next table: Joshua. I looked at Jake he said, "I'll join him for snacks." I thanked him. I watched Jake walk to seat with Joshua and I couldn't help but smile at the thought that they might be glaring at each other as I sat with Lukas. He started soft. "I'm sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to scare you." I folded arms. "You threatened my work." "I was desperate." He shrugged. "I saw the videos," he said. "You looked happy. I want that. For us."

Jackson’s voice came first, bright with anticipation. “This is going to be a fun night.” And just then a scream tore through the air, sharp and raw and full of pain. My lips curved slowly… Satisfied. Zorrack surged forward, his laughter dark and vicious in my head. “Hell yeah.”

"Or what?" he asked again as he laughed when she winced in pain.
