A knock sounded as the door swung open and Josef came in with more papers for Hadrian to sign and his older brother could only sigh away his exasperation. ‘Still working hard, aren't we Hadrian?’ his twin brother said and laid the stacks on the table. ‘Yes, well I have an efficient guard dog.’ Hadrian remarked glancing at Anton standing beside him. Josef chuckled. ‘Then, I guess you won't have any problems dealing with these.’ Josef answered, chuckling at his brother's predicament. ‘I already apologized for spacing out.’ The young Emperor added. ‘And it wasn't my fault that I was almost killed.’

His arms holding Sloane went completely stiff. But he refused to admit he was wrong. Utterly humiliated, he snapped his head up, glaring at Cassius with pure hostility. "Who the hell are you?" Julian gritted his teeth. "This is Valerius family business! Outsiders don't get to interfere!" Faced with his roaring, Cassius just gave a slight nod. He looked down at Julian. A dangerously cold smirk flashed in his dark eyes. "I am Cassius. Cassius Castellano."

We hear Caesar quietly exit. “It’s me boy!” Julius yells from outside nervously. Caesar growls a warning. “This is Ben, he’s with me.” Caesar isn’t stupid and he’s a loyal mommas boy. He howls to me asking what I want him to do. I yell through the window. “Caesar, we have not invited them over. I do not wish for you to hurt them but give them a warning that they are not welcome.” I command “What!?” Julius says and then Caesar drags him from his pant leg across the yard then makes his way to Ben and does the same. They are screaming.

He knew his brother was too small, being only eighteen and living all alone, but it was a big upgrade over being at home with an acrimonious man and a mother who never dared stand up for them. He braces himself, he knows it's coming as soon as his dad is in front of him. Caleb tricks him across his cheek with the back of his hand, making his head turn with force. He can feel the burn and pain. His eyes water, and slowly, the warmth of the blood oozing out of his nose invades his lip. The all-too-familiar taste of lead.

“Do you know what you’ve caused? Why is it that you always bring me misfortune, Savannah?” Roman groaned beside me, a pained sound that made my hands tighten instinctively around him. “Do you know what the General will do when he finds out about this?” Julius continued, his voice shaking. “Do you know what he’ll do to me? To us? To us all?! You shot his son!” Roman coughed weakly. “I’m starting,” he muttered, “to think you have a thing for my father.” Julius ignored him. “The General will not spare my life,” he said, eyes burning. “And if I’m going down—”

He pressed a button on his jacket. "Lucius is dead. Someone killed—" he tried to signal the other mates nearby but his words became muffled when Marcellus lifted from his knees. "My lord!" He staggered back, bowing courteously after regaining his composure. "I..I didn't know it was you, lord Marcellus." The air thickened around them with tension when Marcellus approached him, he faltered but stood his ground. Pursing his lips, never making eye contact with Marcellus. Marcellus smirked, loving his fierce spirit.
