Melody's POV The acrid tone of Jewel's voice sliced through the air before I even turned around."Do not think that Jones will let this slide," she snarled through gritted teeth.Her words slid through the thronged hall like a snake's venom. I froze mid-step, my back tensing. I slowly turned around and looked at her."Oh, I'm terrified," I said in a mocking tone, creating a shiver in my spine. "What are you going to do? Sell me? Or press me into low-paid work like one of your father's servants?Her eyes turned into thin slits. "You're just jealous of me!" She took a step forward, her heels clicking hard against the marble floor. "Tell me, is it because of Jay? Is it because I stole him from you?

I take it out of my back pocket as I roam my eyes at the broken flower vase, light stand, and scattered beads on the floor. They belonged to Joanna. She loved them so much and I never could have dreamt of them ever being part of such a mess in her room. Something must have happened. My phone rings again and I quickly pick it up without looking at the caller ID. My eyes roamed Joana's room as I placed the phone to my ear. "Hello," I spoke, partly distracted by my wild thoughts. "Listen up. I have your sister here with me. If you ever want to see her again, do exactly as I tell you." A demanding male voice spoke through the phone.

Jewel's eyes were red as she said softly, "I thought you are dead. I felt terrible, and I do not want to live any more, so I jumped down here." Darryl stroke Jewel's head when he heard those words. Debra smiled softly and said, "I told you that I would follow you for all my life. We shall live and die together; that will never change." Darryl was stunned, but warmness filled his heart. He almost cried as he held the ladies' hands tightly. "Mister!" Jewel suddenly shouted in shock. "Mister, what is this white jade platform under our feet?" "I don't know, either. It did not melt in the lava, so it must be a treasure." Darryl furrowed his brows as he answered her.
