Mario stood in front of me, putting a hand behind him as if he was shielding me, and I took a deep breath as a heavy feeling settled in my chest.
“Do you have your mother’s necklace and father’s bracelet?” Mario asked, taking me by surprise. I instantly put my hand on my chest, where my necklace dangled under my shirt, and I nodded.
“Yes, it is.” I said, and he cleared his throat.
“Good, because you are going to need it.” He said, not bothering to look at me as his stance tensed. He looked at the door as a low growl escaped his chest, and though we were in the bank, the man didn’t seem to care.
