The Witch's Demon Mate
Light poured from his mouth and eyes, and for an instant, Aria saw something vast and ancient reflected in him — a figure made of flame and shadow, wearing the Gate like a crown.
The creature faltered, whispering in awe: “A bearer…?”
The moment shattered. Kael fell limp, and the Gate behind them split open again, wider this time — not fully, but enough for the light to bleed.
Aria threw herself over him, raising a wall of shadow just as the air exploded. Energy ripped past them, carving trenches in the rock.
When the surge finally stilled, the creature was gone. Only its voice lingered, soft as ash.
“The Gate remembers. The bond endures. We will meet again, Flamebearer.”
