She then shoved me again, harder this time, trying to force me back against the cold stone pillar. “I won’t warn you again, Camille.” I gritted my teeth, losing to the rage that was bubbling within me. Her eyes widened with confirmation as she raised her hands, high enough to split my lips. “You know my name! I knew it! You are the disgraced Luna.” But before her hand could make contact a third time, a large, tan hand shot out of nowhere, catching Camille’s wrist in a grip that looked tight enough to shatter bone.

“More than you will ever know. But I can’t. I’m bound to him. He saved my life. He trusts me. I swore an oath.. I am his Beta—” “What about the oath you made to me?” My voice shattered. “What about the nights you promised you’d never let anyone hurt me? What about when you said I’d never face the world alone?” He closed his eyes like the words pierced him. “You’re not alone,” he whispered. “I AM!” My voice cracked. “Because right now I’m not your lover. I’m not even myself. I’m just—” My breath trembled. “A substitute Luna.” The words tasted like poison.

Claudia in the armchair opposite, legs crossed, notes on her lap. Cameras whir to life. Red lights blink on. In some control rooms, a countdown reaches zero. “We’re live in three, two…” a voice whispers. Claudia looks at the camera. “Buonasera,” she says. “Tonight, in an exclusive conversation, we speak with global recording artist Luna Valentine—whose real name, as many of you have now learned, is Luna Valentina Rossi‑Moretti—and the man the world has been calling her ‘mafia husband’: businessman Dante Moretti.”

"You think I'd tell you anything, Lisa? You're just a weak little girl. What could you possibly do to me?" I leaned in closer, my eyes blazing with anger. "Maybe I didn't introduce myself properly," I said, my voice low and menacing. "I am not Lisa, the weak human girl you treated like dirt. I am Kiara Anderson, Luna of the Crimson Pack. And for everything you did to hurt me, you will pay." Jonas's eyes widened in shock, his face paling as he realized his mistake. He had thought he was dealing with the same timid girl he had betrayed, but he was wrong. I was Kiara, and I would make him pay for his crimes.

The windows were open, and I could hear Selena talking inside. "It’s good that he has come for you," a woman’s voice said. It sounded like Selena’s mother. "Now, you will become the Luna, and you will get all the power you want." I froze, my heart hammering in my chest. What? My mind raced as I strained to hear more.

My head snapped up, "What is that?" Emma looked at me. "Haven't you heard? The Lycan King is looking for his luna. Apparently, anyone can sign up!" she beamed at me. Then my eyes flashed to the TV as the same words of the moon goddess flooded my head. An opportunity... This is it!

It all felt like one big barbecue party, with part of it being the welcoming party becoming the member of the pack. When Helena and I joined the crowd, we were received so warmly. Helena was the pack’s Luna, since Jackson hadn’t yet found a new Luna. She had already told me that I was her Luna, but since I wasn’t ready for that yet, we hadn’t shared it with the pack—and fortunately, no one else was pressing me about it. A small, two-level stage had been set up on the lakeshore so that the moon shone beautifully on everyone on stage. Jackson and Dave were already waiting on stage, and Mateo was walking toward us.

At that, she moved away from my side to join in the stupid celebration of a darn nanny returning and I continued to glare at Elena and then at Camila. “That’s because you don’t know me, Camila. I am Sofia and whatever I want, I get in any way I can and that includes Deangelo. I will soon be the new Luna and you will regret ever thinking that way.”

He dipped his head, and stepped to one side. My annoyance at Mason getting the getting the better of me; “My name is Sienna...” I bite out. “Not Luna.” I couldn’t find it in myself to apologies at this moment for my own clumsiness of not looking where I was going. But at this moment I was far too riled up.

I placed my hands on his temples again, and welcomed the vision into mine. I saw a woman, Clay’s mother. She was bitten by a vampire. She did not say a word about it, because had she did so, our father would have hunted that vampire . And then, there was the full moon, two babies. I have seen two babies, one boy and one girl. But Clay’s mother was only carrying a single child. The full moon and two babies and then a powerful voice echoing: ‘Two children of the chosen wolves. Destined to be one. The female Luna will be the most powerful of all wolves, her powers will be unparalleled, her domains will be one. She must be protected or else, her powers will be lost and all wolves will pay the co
