Camryn had asked her store assistant to help measure her steps as she was visually impaired. Given her short steps, she needed four steps to travel about three feet. Although roughly a thousand feet was not an exact figure, she had to walk over a thousand steps. Deep down, Camryn was counting her steps as she walked slowly. Mrs. Newman was not bothered about Camryn’s pace. After winding up her window, Mrs. Newman called her husband. Once her husband picked up her call, she said, “Darling, I made Camryn meet Serenity.”

I had never seen her give anyone more than a polite handshake. She skipped the hug and just patted my shoulder instead. “Of course,” she said and then quickly turned and headed for the gym.

a tiny voice called out loudly. Gladys and Dante looked up to see a little girl running towards them. Her ponytails bounced as she rushed over. She was six years old but looked small and cute, just like her mom, Kristin. "Kathryn!" Dante and Gladys exclaimed in unison, welcoming her into their arms. "How is my little pony doing?" Dante asked, playfully pinching her cheeks. She laughed, revealing some missing teeth. "I’m fine, Grandpa. Did you miss me?" Kathryn asked, her bubbly smile a mirror of her mother’s.

I deserve to rot in Hell for that. Later on Katherine wouldn't even remember walking up the concrete steps or down the hall or up the other two flights of stairs. All she would remember was all the thinking she did, the focusing, the effort into trying to invade Convel's dreams. Her attempts were exhausting and the moment Katherine's head hit the pillow on her bed, she was fast asleep.
