"What do you want to see? Keith is a soon-to-be Alpha and has gone back to his pack. Are you satisfied now?" I saw the shock on her face.

“I think I know what to do” The dragon flapped his wings, cutting through the air around them and effortlessly taking off. He soared high. Leader Keith was oblivious to their plan, laughing it off as another one of their effort to kill him. As soon as they started to drift close to Keith, the rider pulled at the shiny object and snatched the locket from around his neck. Leader Keith grunted, falling to his knees and shaking his head. Without the protection of the locket he was defenceless. Javier glowered.

The moment they were gone, I shifted back to human form and ran to Keith. He was lying on the ground. His chest was covered in black veins. The dark energy was spreading fast. Corrupting. Killing. "Keith," I said. My hands shook as I reached for him. "Why did you do that?" Keith's eyes opened. They were unfocused. Filled with pain. "Had to," he whispered. "Had to protect you." "You idiot," I said. Tears were running down my face. "You complete idiot." Keith coughed. Blood came up. The black veins spread further.

They were from the Midnight Guardians pack, fully clothed, and they wouldn’t try anything funny because they were saving themselves for their mates. And that’s how Keith found himself in this lab, spacing out while contemplating his life choices. Keith felt like he merged with the chair he was sitting on, and he became furniture. A sad ending for someone with a promising future. He remembered how he was excelling in academics, and he proved himself as a worthy warrior; he became a coach and started a lucrative business of protein shakes, and... now he was sitting in a room with five females and being ignored.

He wore a sleeveless shirt that displayed a dragon tattoo along his arm. "Where is Keith?" She asked. Did she know that he was coming? Oh, of course she did! They're friends all this time. I almost forgot. "He's gone," I said in a calm tone. "Did you two have a fun reunion?" Her hands were clasped together in front of her face, her eyes gleaming with a knowing light. "Of course you did! I was very kind to give you all this space for yourself, I knew Keith Morgan would come to take a look at you."

They’re binding me to her as if I have no will of my own. My father, my brothers, even the Sunlit Alpha. They all look at me as if I am a thread in their tapestry to pull tight where it suits them.” Leanne stepped closer, her hand brushing against his arm. “You’re not a thread. You’re the loom itself, Keith. They only treat you this way because you let them. You could fight this, you could fight for us.”

“You lose.” Keith’s eyes flickered between me and his army—his failing army. His rogues were falling one by one, their bodies disintegrating under my power. His breath hitched. Then—he turned to run. Oh, hell no. I vanished in a flash of white light and reappeared right in front of him. Keith gasped, stumbling backward. “No—NO!” I grabbed his throat before he could escape, my grip tight, unyielding. He struggled, clawing at my wrist, but I didn’t let go.

Swiftly, I go to it, expecting to find the guarding wolf waiting for me - only I’m left surprised when that’s not the case. Instead, it’s Keith standing there, making me pause as I take in his face that is painted black with ash. His arms are also covered as he now only wears a tank top, his muscles on full display. I make sure to keep my eyes on his as he begins to speak. “Hey,” he begins, and then he holds something out. “I figured you’d want this.” Looking down, I discover he has my bag in his hand. I nod to him as I reach out and take it, making sure our fingers don’t brush.

Although he had only been playing on the skateboard, there were people nearby to secretly protect him and prevent any mishaps. Keith had come to the shade at the main door. He had approached Troy's bodyguards and ordered, "All of you, go away. I want to talk to my brother." But the bodyguards hadn't listened to Keith. They had the responsibility to protect Troy, as ordered by York. They had been Troy's personal bodyguards. Therefore, even though Keith was the Ritter family's second son, they hadn't obeyed his command. Seeing this, Keith had shouted again, "Did you all hear me? Get lost! I want to talk to my brother."

"I don't know what's going on around here, but I am not willing to give up my formal attire to get dirty! This suit is really expensive, you know!?" He squinted his eyes as he drew closer to the person who had managed to kick the target he was chasing earlier, then snorted in annoyance when he found that the person who had kicked his target just now was none other than Derek Skylar. "You again, eh? So disappointing …," Keith patted his clothes, then took out a taser, which he had been carrying recently as an additional weapon besides his favourite revolver, and electrocuted the strange man until he lost consciousness completely. "I think one of my men happened to cross this place and help me
