“How come Malum didn’t get an email about it?”
I frowned despite myself. “What do you mean?”
“I mean,” she said, stepping a little closer, lowering her voice just enough to feel intrusive, “anytime Finn’s school calls a meeting, they send an email to the parents. And since I’m the one who handles Mr. Sutton’s emails, I always see it.”
She paused, letting the words settle.
“But this time,” she continued softly, “there was no email.”
The air felt heavier.
