"The kid’s code was encrypted through a three-layer dead-man switch," Malakai Reed muttered, slamming a heavily modified satellite tablet onto the polished mahogany desk. "If his pulse stops, the server blocks wipe everything. We lose the Swiss accounts, the shipping manifests, the entire digital vault of the Ashford estate."

Amelia whispered. Samuel’s voice was heavy. “Protect you.” “Protect Richard.” “And never let the ledger fall into the wrong hands.” Amelia swallowed hard. “Did he say who shot him?” Samuel hesitated. “He tried.” “But before he could finish…” “He said only one word.” The room grew still. “What word?” Ethan asked. Samuel looked directly at Amelia. “‘Raven.’” ⸻ Marcus finished cleaning his hands. “I’ve decrypted part of the Genesis file.”

"Sir, why didn't you come inside to the heated waiting room? You're soaking wet." Samuel looked down at his muddy boots, a look of deep shame crossing his features. "I didn't want to track dirt onto your clean floors. And... I was afraid." "Afraid of what?" Amelia asked softly. He copied the code he had just cracked into the system, then pushed the computer aside and asked, “Does this count as passing the assessment?” Everyone fell silent. Did this even need to be asked? This was clearly beyond passing. “Yes, it’s done.” Marcus nodded with approval. Hunter then opened Samuel’s USB drive. The contents were the same as what Natalie had just captured and cracked, which meant the two of them were tied again.

Paying him no mind, Kaze video called Samson. Samson’s disgruntled voice came on the line after a long ringing. “Why are you video calling me, Keeve? Don’t you have better things to do?” For an investment tycoon like Samson, he would only use the video function for teleconference. Other times, anyone attempting a video call would face his wrath.
