Lifting my leg, I delivered a brutal, crushing kick, marching her head straight into the hard wall with all the supernatural strength in my muscles. His massive, black-wolf form was nowhere to be found. He lay on the slab, his skin pale and translucent, his ribs standing out sharply against his chest. His hair was white, not the blonde of a human, but the dead-white of a man whose soul had been bleached by the sun.

Gun still smoking. Expression calm. Like he hadn’t just killed a man in the middle of a formal council meeting. Vane moved with a mechanical, jerky speed that shouldn't have been possible for a human in a Dead Zone, dodging Killian’s strike with an unnatural fluidity. Before Killian could reset his stance, Vane drove a concealed, high-voltage taser into the Alpha’s side. The blue sparks arched across Killian's skin, and he collapsed to the grass, his muscles spasming in uncontrollable agony.

Still, he looked so empty. The sight of both brothers made my chest ache. I'd been around them long enough to know that it was never a good idea to piss off both brothers at the same time. They were both different breeds of crazy. And breaking them would only unleash the madness hiding under their skin. Black Scorpion had unknowingly dug his own grave. And I was more than willing to help bury him. Just then Killian's phone rang. He didn't move. I reached for it instead, glancing at the screen. Adam. He was one of our deadliest foot soldiers. If he was calling now, it wasn't for pleasantries.

He was one thought away from death. "You're the real Felix Zeller!" Kingston yelled in shock. Felix had bypassed all three of his soul barriers! That was impossible! Besides, he had even erased his soul power only to recover it later; that was truly unheard of! "The Black Soul Scout of the Hall of Souls. We finally meet," Felix said with a slight smirk. Now everything was under his control. Kingston couldn't even kill himself if he tried. "Let's remove your shackles first, then we'll talk. Spirit Eye!"

Sam's eyes flew wide open, his body arching violently before crashing back onto the bed.
