The One He Saved
While Jacqueline begins telling her about Amelia and the push from our Lunas to let the first born child become the heir no matter what gender they are, I go in search of chairs.
When I get to the waiting room, my mother and Edward are just walking in, arms laden with food.
“Oh, Edward, do you know where I can get some chairs?” I ask him.
“I’ll get them if you’ll take this food.”
“Perfect, thank you,” I say, taking the food and waiting for my mother to join me.
When we step away from him, I look at her. “Are you doing okay, mom?”
“I’m perfect, Margot. I never expected to get a second chance mate and here I am with a man who would do anything to protect the ones he loves.”
