Knox felt the brutal severance of the blood bonds he shared with Killan and Seven as they breathed their last. Seven had lasted only moments longer before succumbing to his grievous wounds. His once-magnificent wings were little more than tattered ribbons as life fled from his ruined form. Several of the creatures lashed out with barbed tails and ripped through his chest in an explosive spray of blood. He cried out a hoarse, gurgling sound of agony, before slumping lifelessly to the ground. Knox felt each loss in his bones. The severing of those ancient bonds left gaping wounds in his very soul.

They don't dare confront the seven brothers but it does not mean they can't take care of weaker threats before they could grow.

Kim's head flew back before she flopped to the side. My eyes slammed shut as I shook my head. I couldn't cry. Not now. I would cry later. Kim was dead. One down. One to go. I had to finish this.
