My Enemy is My Mate

My Enemy is My Mate

"Realms?" "Yes. The realms that my mom used to tell us as stories when we were young. In order to get to that realm, you have to enter the gate which can only be open by a specific fairy. Fairies are mythical creatures but the ones who guard the key are a different kinds of fairies. They possess the power of a witch and the power to cloak. There are other powers but it is still unknown. Fairies are loyal and selfless creatures. That is why they are given the responsibility to guard the keys against those who seek more power." I explained more but Linda seems least convinced. Christina just nodded,

The Seven Faces of Death

The Seven Faces of Death

My father and brother are normals, my step-mother, step-sister, and half-sister are mermaids. Fairies have a magical power that comes naturally. No choice, not training. Most are short, with pointed ears and colourful hair. Mages are kind of like fairies but tend not to have colourful hair, instead having tattoo-like markings. Mages are born with some potential magic but have to choose their speciality and train. Weaker versions of fairies, some people say.

Trevioux Series: The Blue Dragon

Trevioux Series: The Blue Dragon

“I’m just spitting some facts. We also don’t know if you’ll reach heaven, Havoc. Your name alone doesn’t stand a chance up there.” “Th-this guy!” I laughed slightly. The both of them continued arguing until they started hurting each other. I didn’t bother to stop them, I know they’re just playing around. They didn’t even notice that I’m leaving them behind already. I continued following Lady Poly. “Excuse me, Lady Poly. These fairies, did you create them?” She turned her face to the right and smiled. “They were the fairies we saved five thousand years ago in the middle of the war between the Parkova, Rezuna, and Falaxio against

The Vampire heir's Bride.

The Vampire heir's Bride.

The hybrid is taller than fairies. There are various categories of fairies and nymphs in Helmel; I could spend hours cataloging each one, but in all my years of life so far and in all the books and scrolls I’ve seen, none is like the hybrid—none with red wings with bird feathers, even those who united with the Aerwin. “I’m giving you a gift, and you can’t refuse,” I smile. “I refuse.” Her gaze at me is deadly, as if she wants to burn my flesh.

The Forbidden Crown

The Forbidden Crown

Elen replied and began to read the books. “Faries typically live for around 200 years and each possess different magical abilities. Some have control over fire, water, or wind, while others have the gift of healing. In the past, fairies were treated kindly by humans, but as time passed, their numbers declined. Some humans exploited fairies for experiments or to benefit themselves. This exploitation led to a decline in the fairy population, threatening their existence.” However, as she read, Elen grew more and more frustrated. The information was hard to find and often hidden behind old-fashioned language and outdated ideas. She

I Picked Up Alpha's Puppy

I Picked Up Alpha's Puppy

All of us refuse to look toward the corner. It’s like trying to avoid looking at a black hole. Lionel and I try to talk to the girls. To keep the conversation natural and calm. It’s not easy. “How many types of fairies are there?” Lionel asks inquisitively. As though the girls have not spent the past month chatting our ears off about it. “There’s forest fairies…ocean fairies…river fairies…” Patti listed. “No!” Vera interrupts. “That’s mermaids.”

he said simply. "For who?" I frowned. "Him or you?" "Both of us." Before I could say any more, the door at the end of the room opened and Sir Ainsley came through with two fairies following after him. The unknown fairies were sylphs; air fairies with delicate wings rising from their shoulders. One female and one male. The woman had bright golden hair while the male's tresses were slightly darker. The Twilight Court went silent as the sylphs made their way down the center aisle and then stopped before us.

The Water Fairy's Affair

The Water Fairy's Affair

If it didn't kill us, that is. All good things come to those who wait, and when you're a fairy and your mate is a deity, you have all of the time in the world. It's interesting trying to make that work amongst humans. Water fairies tend to travel with the open water and the location depends on the season. It makes it a little easier to appear like we moved away for good, only to come back and find out the humans have forgotten about us for the most part. It's amazing what a name change and new hair do can accomplish. If we happen to get recognized, we hear the 'you remind me of someone' or 'you look familiar' lines, just for us to shrug it off and act clueless

REBIRTH: My Forbidden Entanglement

REBIRTH: My Forbidden Entanglement

The werewolf princess inhaled sharply, “They exist?” “Of course. From Fairies comes Fae. Fae’s control elements, Fairies, are beings of magic. They bring life to our castle.” Sunitra explained. “These fairies are not exactly people. Their real form is magic; they take this humanoid form for fun and to make interactions clearer…which is useless because only fae people can understand fairies, regardless of which form they choose.” “Oh, they don't speak?” Odessa asked. “Nope. Just gestures.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Oh, this is right up my alley! I just finished 'Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell' and while the fairies are less the cute, winged kind and more ancient, terrifying forces of nature, the way Clarke weaves them into an alternate Regency England is phenomenal. The gentleman with the thistledown hair is a masterclass in creating a fae being that feels genuinely alien and dangerous, pulling from older British myths where they weren't to be trifled with.

For something that dives headfirst into the folklore, 'The Stolen Child' by Keith Donohue is haunting. It’s based on the changeling myth, told from the perspective of the child taken and the changeling left behind. It’s less about a shiny magical realm and more about the melancholy, unsettling feeling of being caught between two worlds. It really stuck with me because it explores the cost of that magic, the loneliness of it.

If you want a realm that feels vast and lived-in, the 'October Daye' series by Seanan McGuire is my comfort read. Toby’s a half-fae knight detective, so you get deep dives into Faerie’s political structure, its different realms, and all sorts of creatures from various global traditions, not just European. It’s urban fantasy, so the magical realm is layered over San Francisco, but the later books journey into the deeper, wilder parts of Faerie that are pure folklore nightmare fuel in the best way.
