As Kennedy toddles towards me, I revel at her beauty. She wears a simple pale green sundress, and soft curls bounce in her thin light-brown hair. She doesn’t look like my two-year-old today. My heart skips a beat, thinking of how fast she has grown and will continue to change with each passing year. I gasp as my eyes fall on her shoes. She is not wearing the pale green sandals I purchased for her. Instead, a new pair of white Converse adorn her chubby little feet. I bend to her level.
“Mommy loves your shoes,” I point to her toes.
