Kyle had only worked here for a few months and mostly he was like the rest of his generation: lazy, self-centered and cynical without the life-experience. But he’d grown on her. God help her, he’d grown on her these past few months. Snarky as hell, like her. Kind of an asshole, but his dirty jokes made her smile. She was fairly sure Kyle didn’t like people much, like her, too. And hey. She might be a stodgy old maid at forty but Kyle’s sneering insouciance touched something deep inside thought long dead. “No. I wasn’t even around when you two started that whole thing. I only relocated during the wedding.” I exhaled, leaning back in my seat. “Honestly? Outside of Vincent’s control, Alexander was good.” She raised her brows. “Oh, I’m going to love this story. Kyle's brows furrowed deeply as he frowned, but I could see beyond that angry frown. Maybe I didn't know him well enough but I knew enough to know that he was just a little boy trying to protect himself from the world and that didn't mean harming other people to accomplish that, he wasn't also the type to create havoc and chaos in a pack. He wasn't like Addison and some members of Brookside Pack who didn't care about consequences. No, he wasn't. I know a rebel when I see one.
