The drive over to the apartment was filled with an uncomfortable silence. Unasked questions hung in the air like a thick fog. Beads of sweat prickled on the back of the drivers neck as he too was smothered by the tension in the car. The seconds felt like minutes as the road seemed to stretch longer and longer before her eyes. Letting her eyes close, Thea suppressed a sigh as she leant her head against the window, she ignored the drumming of her head against the window as they drove over the bumpy terrain. Bellamy’s words playing on repeat in her head, ‘like our souls recognise each other’.

She stood there and stared back and didn’t seem to know what to say, either. This silent dance needed a better beat. One he could drive home with his— Finally, she said, pointing to the door, “Do you like the restaurant?” she asked. Her voice as breathless as he felt. Except she was actually talking and he was standing there looking like a fish out of water, his mouth opening and closing as he tried desperately to get something like a linear thought going. Where the hell was that confidence now? He wasn’t awkward or worried or any of those namby-pamby feelings some guys always described having. It was more that his brain had gone blank at the sight of her and everything but his arousal went

Lauren walked down the void of darkness not knowing where she was. She tried to call for help but strangely, her throat was parched and no sound came out of her mouth. She was scared. her heart slammed against her chest as if threatening to burst out in no time. She shut her eyes tight and closed her ears with her palms. She was lost. “Lauren.” A voice called out in the wind. A voice she knew perfectly well. A voice she could recognise anywhere in the world.

"This hotel belongs to your uncle?" Nodding, he pillowed his head and lay on the floor, giving a click to the remote he held. The vault switched to a transparent top. "Here is where I speak to the silence, blame the world, and shed my tears." That somehow dimmed the glow hopping on her hand. She took a seat next to him. Under the soothing lights, his sharp facial features stood out even more, and so did his bottled loneliness. She understood the familiar silence. It was whispering, yearning to be heard after years of being ignored.

Chapter 26 Sia POV "I don't want to lose her!!" A high pitched voice cried out and I felt a jerk on my shoulder, causing another stab of pain to shoot its way through my body. My eyes opened slowly and shut almost immediately as the bright lights overheard almost blinded me. A shudder ran through me. "Do you think she'll be fine?" The voice spoke again. "Elise, if you want her to be okay..." A husky, male voice cut in "Can we start by having some silence? She isn't awake yet, but you're yapping and—"

And so, my heart beat on, slowly and faintly. - One day, an unwelcome guest came to our little sanctuary. Roanna knelt beside my legs, sobbing and pleading, "Miss Palmer, please… Please tell Scott to talk to me again! I really love him, and I can't live without him!" Mary burst out from the kitchen, waving a kitchen knife. "You shameless b*tch! How dare you show your face?" Roanna raised her chin in defiance, shouted, "Kill me then! I can't live without Scott, so kill me!"

"Just remember what you're saying now, and don't come crawling back. However, even if you do, it's pointless. Charles only has eyes for me. "You're clueless, aren't you? Charles has been into me for three years. I'm his one and only." I never noticed how clueless Emily was until then. Her words stopped me in my tracks. "Emily, have you ever heard the saying that the worst heartache comes from love that's never returned? Is that you?" The woman who was all fire and fury a moment ago suddenly looked like a frog caught by the throat, speechless. She stood there, mouth hanging open, but no words came out.

Benjamin, as the father of the child, volunteered to drive her. Throughout the drive, the conversation was one-sided, with Benjamin trying to strike up a conversation. Nissa, as always, couldn't speak. But even if she could, she wouldn't have bothered with hand signs just to reply to him. There was a time when Benjamin ignored her silence. Now, it was he who wanted to speak, but she didn't want to hear it. So he rambled on, as if trying to pour out everything he'd never said in his entire life.
