DAMAGED BUT NOT BROKEN
Lucinda whispers, "I was deceived,"
Tears fall, like rain, as she reveals her heart.
Understanding dawns on me, her hatred misguided and blind,
Tears prick at the corners of my eyes, pressure builds in my mind.
"I'm sorry," Lucinda says, "For every pain, every scar,"
Remorse and regret, in every word, every star.
I stand abruptly, overwhelmed, "Rose, wait!" Lucinda cries,
But I'm gone, racing to the garden, fresh air, escape from the lies.
