Rudy was ahead of me, running full speed, when he turned a corner and collided straight into someone. “Oof!” the person gasped. “Rudy!” I called, hurrying forward. My stomach dropped as I caught sight of who he had bumped into. It was Adele, one of the Luna candidates, standing with her arms crossed, glaring down at Rudy as if he’d just insulted her entire family. She was dressed in her usual fine dress, her hair perfectly styled, and her lips painted red. She radiated an aura of entitlement and superiority, one that had always rubbed me the wrong way. I barely spoke to her. Hell, I barely spoke to any of the candidates. They were all the same - stuck up and uptight.
