Beneath the Sheets

Beneath the Sheets

I really hope they were not close because- I’d just leave it at that. I looked up at Graham “let’s go down there” I said. My eyes were dark and my gums were tingling with my canines threatening to elongate… I had to hold it in for now. Graham nodded “yes” The cellar was dimly lit, damp, and cold—the kind of place that swallowed sound and made men shiver long before fear touched them… some said that it was a nightmare, hell if you’d like to call it.

THE DOCTOR'S BEAUTIFUL WIFE.

THE DOCTOR'S BEAUTIFUL WIFE.

"You are never to go into the cellar, Isabelle. It is not a place for you." Her gaze snapped toward the hallway leading to the cellar door. “The cellar,” she whispered. The Forgotten Room The wooden stairs creaked beneath them as they descended into the dimly lit cellar. The further they went, the colder the air became, wrapping around them like an unshakable chill. Carla shivered. “This place gives me the creeps.” Isabelle didn’t respond. She was too focused on the cluttered room before them—dust-covered furniture, forgotten crates, and old trunks draped in white sheets. It smelled of aged wood, damp stone, and something else… something old and hidden.

A LOVE LIKE OURS

A LOVE LIKE OURS

“It’s been feeding on what Elise left behind. On you. On her. On your mother.” Yvette stared at the new mirror, pulse racing. “Is he in there?” “No,” Tristan said. “He’s beneath it.” --- They found the cellar door just where it had always been, half-rotted and hidden beneath a faded rug. The stairs groaned under their weight, dust rising in choked clouds. The air grew colder with each step. At the bottom, brick. Damp. Molded. And then— The well. Its cover was cracked. The cement seal fractured. Salt lines around it broken.

THE REJECTED LUNA’S FOUR KINGS

THE REJECTED LUNA’S FOUR KINGS

"How the cold felt like an end. And now... the cold just feels like a reason to go inside." Félix tightened his arms around her, his chin resting on the crown of her head. "The cellar was a lifetime ago, Emma. We’ve written a lot of pages since then. And I like these last ones the best." Inside, the cabin was a sanctuary of the Tangible. There were no glowing Spires or silver-logic consoles. There were shelves of hand-bound books, jars of dried herbs, and a hearth that crackled with the stubborn rhythm of cedar wood.

The Pack's Triquetra

The Pack's Triquetra

Perhaps less popcorn, she amended to herself, and more porn – there was something about the choice of couch that indicated it was used as frequently for sex as for sitting. Despite the generous size of the house, she knew that the cellar was not as large as it had been when they were teenagers. She was not surprised when Heath crossed to the back wall and pulled back a curtain to reveal a hidden steel door with a safe-style wheel entry. “You always intended to do this,” she realized. “Back when we were teenagers, this is why you were looking for the cellar.” “Of course,” Heath opened the door revealing how thick the steel was and that the wall in which it was mounted whilst it appeared to be

Fantastic follow up to the first book. I keep going back to the first one to reread the corresponding chapters. It’s so good to see all the perspectives. I cannot wait to see what happens next. Such a clever way to present a story. I’m hooked. I’ll read anything this author puts out at this point.

A Baby For My Fiancés Enemy

A Baby For My Fiancés Enemy

“Eleanor darling. Don’t tell me you’ve finally grown bored of playing house with that little pet of yours?” “We need to meet,” Eleanor said with a cold voice. “I have a plan.” I straightened my back a little. “Alright. The Velvet Cellar. Thirty minutes.” ***************************** The velvet Cellar was an underground pub tucked beneath an old library. A place meant for secrets. I entered the hideout in a cream-tailored blazer with a V-neck line slightly highlighting the rose tattoo near my collarbone. My hair was snatched in a sleek low bun with a bold red lip.

The Don's Dirty Obsession

The Don's Dirty Obsession

Just like them. “Show me,” Cedric whispered, his voice rough. The dog turned and led them through the debris to a hidden cellar door, undamaged, because it had been built deep and reinforced to survive fire. Gianni pried it open with a crowbar, the metal groaning in protest. They descended the stairs into the cool, dark space below. Inside the cellar, preserved from the flames, was a note in Lily’s careful handwriting, tucked under a small lantern. Cedric picked it up with shaking hands, the paper crinkling under his fingers.

Buried and Forgotten

Buried and Forgotten

James murmured to himself. After checking the time, he put a hand to his forehead in exasperation at his forgetfulness. He had been too anxious. Celeste was probably still at kindergarten. He grabbed the treats again and drove over to wait outside the kindergarten. Children began to come out one after another, but Celeste never appeared. James got out of the car and headed in. One of the teachers on duty, Mindy Gibson, recognized him immediately. "Hello there. Liam isn't here today," Mindy said.

He Watched Me Grow…Then Claimed Me

He Watched Me Grow…Then Claimed Me

“If you’re not back in ten, I’m coming up and setting something expensive on fire.” “That would help nothing.” “It would help me.” I get out of the car. The Keller-Vale tower appears before I reach it, the way it always does. Forty-two floors of dark glass and steel reflecting back a version of the city that looks more orderly than the one below it. The letters across the facade are as severe as I remember. Nothing about the building asks to be noticed. It simply assumes it will be. I used to think that was power. Now I think it might just be habit with good tailoring.

Frequently Asked Questions

The book 'Secrets in the Cellar' was written by John Glatt, a true crime author who's known for his gripping, meticulously researched narratives. I stumbled upon this book during a deep dive into true crime literature, and it left me utterly disturbed yet fascinated. Glatt has a knack for presenting harrowing real-life cases with a balance of sensitivity and factual rigor—this one explores the shocking case of Josef Fritzl, who imprisoned his daughter Elisabeth in a basement for 24 years.

What makes Glatt's work stand out is how he avoids sensationalism while still delivering a page-turner. I compared it to other true crime books like 'The Stranger Beside Me' by Ann Rule, and while both are chilling, Glatt’s approach feels more journalistic. If you’re into true crime that leans into psychological depth rather than gore, this might be your next read. Just prepare for some sleepless nights afterward.
