Chapter 96 || Elinda's POV || I searched until my legs gave out. The ground beneath me had turned to mud, the scent of crushed pine hitting my nostrils.Alaric stirred beside me, his shirt torn and boots dirty, yet his face not once showed a glimmer of defeat. We searched every inch of road, the forests lining the ridge, even questioned traders and lone scouts who might've seen a convoy. Nothing.No scratch on the trees. No struggle signs. It was as though the young wolves had vanished into thin air.

They retired to Daisy's room, the events of the day still lingering in Daisy's mind as she lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. "Ally! Are you asleep yet?" Daisy Hunter asked as she stared at the wall clock, the time was 8.59 pm. "What is it?...are you finally ready to let me help you as a Doctor?" Allison's voice was barely above whispers as she sat up on the bed. "Have a look at this?" Daisy Hunter said, her hands wobbly as she hands her best friend the file. "What is this?" I grumbled. “Look, we can’t dance around this. We need to find this thing and either run it out of town, or kill it. So tonight, we hunt.” Jack groaned, but Mack smiled and rubbed his hands together. “Yes.” Charlie just watched me. “Where?” I tried to act casual. “It’s been sighted in the woods around the library several times. Let’s start there and see where the night leads us.”
