Adrian's POV I forced myself to breathe, though it felt like my lungs had forgotten how. “Show me.” There was a click, then a hiss of static, then the image came through in fragments on the small comms display. And my blood ran cold. Leo was strapped down and unmoving. His body was attached to a device I could not fully make out at first because the image kept glitching, but the shape of it was clear enough. A rig. Something built for containment and measurement and control. Not a bed. Not a holding cell. Something worse.

Leo pointed out his favorite pizza place, a squirrel he named Kevin who lived near a trash can, and which windows belonged to “Ms. Jenkins, who always burns cookies.” It was ordinary. Uneventful. And completely life-altering. By the time we reached Isla’s apartment, Leo had decided I needed to learn the names of all fifty dinosaurs “or else I couldn’t come to his birthday party.” When Isla opened the door, her eyes went straight to Leo—then to me. “You picked him up?” she asked, trying—and failing—to hide the edge in her voice. “He insisted,” I said, handing her his backpack. “And I didn’t want to disappoint him.”

Elizabeth eyes widen but not in shock but excitement, she quickly look away and away from his grasp. " Come on Isabella, let us go." " We are going to the zoo", Leo announced. Isabella squealed, " the zoo, where animals are?" Elizabeth laughed, she combed her hand through Isabella's hair. " Yes, where animals are." ........ Two hours later, they were in a nearest zoo. Isabella was so excited staring at the animals in the zoo while Leo was the opposite, he was looking bored as hell. Typing away on his phone, Elizabeth nudge him.

It has three legs and a tail that looks suspiciously phallic, but Leo declares it “the king” and drowns it in syrup. Elena sits on the opposite side of the island , knees drawn up on the stool, stealing bites from Leo’s plate when he isn’t looking. She still hasn’t said a word about the locket . She hasn’t taken it off either . I want to ask .

"This island can't just sit here and go to waste. Leo needs a place to train—" "Leo?" I looked at the boy. He was hiding behind Isabella, but his eyes were still full of malice. "Who is he?" "Selena, please, calm down." Isabella stepped forward, her face a mask of false sympathy. "I know you're grieving, but Leo is just a child. He's not well. He needs a special environment to build his strength."

Leo shouted over the rising roar of the geothermal vents. ​"I’ve done more than that!" Ren yelled back, his fingers flying across the holographic interface of the ancient Miller terminal. "I’ve rerouted the 'Wild Code' to act as a magnetic tether. We aren't just breaking out of the crust, Leo. We’re using the city’s own gravity-grid to 'Slingshot' the entire Labyrinth into the upper atmosphere. But once we leave the ground, we only have ten minutes of oxygen before the biosphere fails!"

“Okay, Uncle Zion.” Miranda went in, and Ben quickly introduced her to one of Star Tech’s engineers. The three of them were chatting happily when Leo walked in from the entrance in a deep gray suit, wearing a warm, easy smile. “There you are,” Leo greeted her. Miranda turned to Ben. “Excuse me for a moment.” She stepped away with Leo and the two sat down on a lounge sofa. Leo looked around with a hint of emotion in his eyes. “I still can’t believe this lab was able to reopen. It’s amazing.”

She parted her lips to say something, but before she was able to, Leox and Domonique entered the lab through a door. "That's our lab rat. Can we start now?" Dominique said in a rude voice which made Braelyn annoyed, but before she could say a word, the doctor interrupted. "Yes, we can. As long as you promise that I can play with her if she survives this." The doctor said while staring at Braelyn with a strange look that made Braelyn feel weird.

The door opens a while after, revealing an eleven-year-old boy in a black top and a matching pair of khaki trousers- Derek. “You look sad?” I ask, taking his backpack off his shoulders. “Didn’t you have fun with Scott?” “You’re late. Again,” he mutters, maintaining the annoyed look on his cute little face. “They had fun,” Sofia informs, joining us outside. “Thank you,” I smile. “And by the way, you look terrible.” I look at the blue short-sleeved gown I have on and can't help but agree with her. It has some stains here and there making it look even worse than it originally was.
