“I’m just... happy for my daughter.”
“Of course,” the elder replied, though he didn’t look entirely convinced.
Before the moment could linger too long, I motioned toward the entrance behind me.
“And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Please join me in welcoming my wife, your Luna, Lyra.”
The applause rose again, louder this time, as Lyra stepped out onto the dais. She was radiant, her gown catching the light as she moved with the grace and confidence I’d always admired in her. The crowd’s cheers grew deafening, but I was focused on one man. Lyra’s father shot up from his seat, his expression a mix of shock and something else I couldn’t quite place.
