"You're stunning, end of discussion." Gabriel chuckled softly beside me. "I'll have to agree with Lily on this one." I felt my ears burn, so I quickly changed the subject. "So... what's the plan tonight?" Lily beamed, her eyes sparkling. "They've prepared a bunch of activities! Games, contests, even a fashion walk for best Y2K outfit. And later, of course, the partner dance." My stomach flipped at the last part. The partner dance. As the music started and everyone began gathering in the decorated auditorium, I realized just how big of a night this was.

Lambert clapped his hands, and some of the central seats transformed into a dance floor, a sight that left Lydia in awe. With a tender smile, Lambert gently pulled Lydia from her seat and led her to the dance floor as the piano music played softly. They danced slowly, almost like taking a post-dinner stroll. Lambert's hand lightly held Lydia's waist, and they were so close that Lydia could feel his breath, making her heart race. Lambert's eyes never left Lydia's face, his focused gaze mesmerizing, as if she were the only person in the world. "Lydia..." Lambert whispered her name. She instinctively looked up, meeting his lips.

When his wrinkled eyelids peeled back, there was no white left in his eyes. His eye sockets were packed with clusters of tiny red eyeballs. As he finished swallowing the last of the bloody intestine, a slit opened in one of the deep creases on his face. An eye stared out from within it. Then another, and another. Each one was crammed with writhing red eyeballs. A black lamb wandered into the yard. The moment it saw Frank, it tried to flee. It never got the chance. Frank grabbed the lamb by the head and tore the top of its skull clean off.

Kyle answered as they sat on one of the stools lined up in the bar, roaming his eyes around, hoping not to see anyone he knew, especially women. On one side of the bar, there’s a small dance floor, a magnet for those who can’t resist the beat. It’s a swirl of movement and color as people lose themselves in the music, dancing with wild abandon with their faces lit up with joy and excitement. Occasionally, a particularly bold dancer will break out a move that draws cheers and applause from the crowd. “You don’t need to come with me.” Liam said, “Is your friend trying to make sure that I am going to leave Emerald’s house, so he asked you to follow me?”

The atmosphere around the bonfire was electric, the laughter and chatter of friends mingling with the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. Liam stood up, a playful grin spreading across his face as he clapped his hands to get everyone’s attention. “Alright, everyone! No more Truth or Dare. It’s time to dance!” Cheers erupted from the group, and Isla felt a rush of excitement mixed with nervousness. Lily looked at Hyun Jin for a little moment and he smiled but her brother dragged her with him. “Let’s dance” said Liam taking her on the dance floor. The DJ played ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran.

She just stood tall, serious, one hand at her chest, the other raised. Her dad slowly mirrored her. Together, they moved—graceful. Steady. A single, fluid pattern of motion. “Is this…” Lily whispered, watching them. “...Is this the shadow dance from the lunar festival?” “Yes,” I said softly. “Yes,” Aya echoed. There was a moment of quiet after. Not solemn. Just… full. Then Lily yelled, “NEXT ROUND! PIE ME!” Uncle Rio pie’d her instantly. —-- After every team had gone, the last round was declared open chaos.

He pointed at a little girl, probably 8, who was busy following the dance steps. The kid jumped down from the machine and smiled mockingly at Liam before she gave him a thumbs up…wait, suddenly she flipped it to a thumbs down. “Did you just get a loser thumb?” I muttered in disbelief, he got one from an eight-year-old. “Go on, go regain my pride.” Liam shoved me forward, and I turned to him in disbelief. Huh? Did he call me here so I could beat up this eight-year-old girl in a Dance Dance Revolution game?

“Maybe she’s jealous.” “You had a hook up with her, didn’t you.” Liam shrugs his shoulders. I slap him playfully on the arm. “For goodness sake, Liam. Is there anyone except Tammy and Lilly in this damn gym you’ve not fucked?” He laughs. “Of course. You.” He smirks and exposes his adorable dimple. My knees go week. “Let’s dance.” Tammy grabs my wrist, she’s holding Lilly by the hand. I give my cup and clutch bag to Liam who obligingly takes it and head over to the already packed dance floor.
