The Last Yes

The Last Yes

I sat on the couch, the proposal video Walter made playing in the background, the pastries I had bought beside me. The pastries I once savored then left a bland taste in my mouth. Perhaps my tastes changed. It was not just the pastries I had lost my taste for. Walter had gone radio silent. I tossed my phone on the coffee table and started to pack up my stuff. It was already midnight. I was about to officially run out of patience, ready to use up the last of my so-called 'forgiveness cards.' Just then, my phone buzzed—it was Walter. "Melissa, are you asleep? Don't wait up. I've got stuff to handle, and I won't make it home tonight.

Hidden Obsession

Hidden Obsession

How part of him wanted it, because at least in Evan’s arms, the threats outside couldn’t touch him. But every time he closed his eyes, he saw the words again. I’m coming for you. --- The final envelope came on a Sunday evening. They had been eating dinner—Evan serving Adrian’s plate, cutting his food smaller than necessary, fussing over him with suffocating sweetness—when the knock came. This time, Evan was already on his feet, jaw clenched as he yanked open the door. Nothing but an envelope. He brought it back to the table, ripped it open with shaking hands.

Until The Last Day

Until The Last Day

The journal throbbed with red chains stretching out towards her wrists. Vincent grabbed her hand and pulled her away. "Don't touch it!" he said fiercely. Tears blurred her sight as she pleaded, "If I don't...I'll vanish. He'll erase me." The journal hissed while its last page flipped open, revealing a new line that began to write itself: Final Journal. Entry Two. Camela's lips moved against her will, and her voice trembled as she spoke. "This is the end." "No!" Vincent roared, holding her tighter.

Her Last Gift

Her Last Gift

My death day had finally arrived. As a workaholic who never took a day off, even on a holiday like New Year’s, Daniel still left for the law firm early in the morning. Before he left, he kissed my forehead. “Wait for me tonight.” I smiled as I watched him go. I stood there until the black Bentley disappeared at the end of the road. I was the only one in the villa. I had sent the housekeeper away. I locked the door and drew all the curtains. I went to the bathroom and turned on the water.

Black Claw: Bound by Fate

Black Claw: Bound by Fate

Birds had nested in the dashboard. At midday, they stopped to eat. Damon pulled from his pack a battered copy of *Watership Down*, which he’d scavenged from a burned library two towns back. He read aloud as they chewed dried fruit and jerky, his voice soft and oddly reverent. It was the only book they’d kept, after the world ended. As he read, Elena watched Donovan run perimeter checks, ever alert. She wondered if this vigilance would ever break, if he could ever trust in the possibility of a future. Damon caught her glance and folded the book shut, reading her mind as always.

One Night with a Lycan: A Big Girl’s Transformation

One Night with a Lycan: A Big Girl’s Transformation

A little stronger. Evan didn’t want me to grow up. Or maybe he thought it was disgusting, that a fat girl could try to be sexy. # Nolan was a few minutes late for dinner. He arrived just in time to watch Evan storming out of the dining room and rushing out a side door to the courtyard. Inside, Yena was trying to put both her own and her mother’s minds at ease. Both women were struggling to find something to say. Things had changed so much between them in a matter of only days.

I have really enjoyed this book as a whole… so far. I’m about 70% of the way into the story and find myself mostly happy with the book. I’m just wondering, why does the Prince have such a hang up about weight? It just seams a bit passive aggressive on the negative comments, and name calling.

THE EVIL FOREST

THE EVIL FOREST

It may even save you from being struck down by one of THEM. Humanity is inherently evil." He scrubbed his eyes to see what could be talking to him, there was nothing, he was just alone, alone in the place left by Matendechere. "She Should be coming back by now," he was waiting for her. A yawn escaped Abednego's mouth as he waited for the spirit of Matendechere to come and give instructions on what to finally do.

The Last Immortal

The Last Immortal

I heard him smirking. We gathered beneath a shady tree where the men have set a table. They also made a fire pit where they can cook our food. Under some trees are tints where we can sleep overnight. Yes, we do work at night. I sat at the center of the table and waited for others to join me. Soon, Conrad and Connor sat down on the chairs on my right. Other men joined us. We began eating. Perhaps, everyone is tired so no one is speaking. The chirping of the birds and the sound of the rustling leaves are adding to the stillness of the surroundings. I looked at Connor who is focused on his plate. His serious face is so handsome to look at. Especially when some strand of his Achilles-colored hai

Hacked Hearts

Hacked Hearts

“And don’t even get me started on Nicholas Sparks books and Nora Roberts. What do they know about love? I’ll tell you – nothing, nada. Delusional little people. Ugh. Do you want to know about love? I’ll tell you – it sucks! S-U-C-K-S. It is stupid and you should never love again. No one should ever love again.” Evan whispered to Zivah in a low tone. “Do we have to stay here?” Zivah nodded. “Yes, at least now she’s talking to us. Yesterday she was talking to the Ice cream tub, complaining about how those love quotes are all lies and the whole world is filled with hate.” She paused, pointing at the two empty Ice cream tubs. “She ate it all. In one sitting. That’s DEFCON 2.” “What’s DEFCON 1?”
