I never had to do my own laundry or wash my own dishes. And now I had to do it on my own, and I had no idea how a bloody washing machine worked. The sound of heels clicking on the floor pulled me out of my thoughts and I looked up to see Soraya walz in. Jude looks concerned so I explain. “I need to get these clothes cleaned and pressed so that they’ll be ready for the show ” I point to the pile of clothing lying in a heap in a corner of the room. “I guess I’ll have to take it all to the laundromat.”

Raven shouted, struggling to carry a tub full of clothes. “You can’t lift that, sweetheart,” I laughed, splitting the load so they could help a bit. “Eww, it smells!” Freya whined as I handed them their dad’s clothes. “Freya! Be careful or you’ll trip!” I warned, just as Mrs. Lourdes arrived. “Doing laundry too?” she asked, carrying her husband’s clothes. “Curtis has a mountain of dirty laundry. He’ll run out of things to wear if I don’t,” I joked, walking with her toward the river.

The scene, no matter how brief, was heated, and reminded Jeanie about how long it had been since she’d been with anyone. It was hardly relaxing.
