As I was looking at her, she stopped playing and looked at me. She pointed at me and began to say, "Mama... Who?" Being baffled by her statement, I turned, "Wha-" Before I could say anything, the darkness consumed me as I lost my consciousness falling into the abyss... Lawrence POV:- Ever since I left home, I felt some uneasiness inside me. Like my heart is beating fast from dread and I can't focus on anything. A strange feeling like something bad is going to happen. I can't shake this feeling, it's indicating that something bad is going to happen.

Then I remembered where I was - The tournament. It was the Maze of Runes. "Move!" Cael shouted. The rest of the team moved forward immediately. We started running. I followed them deeper into the maze while Jessie ran beside me. Her breathing was uneven from the sprint, but her eyes were shining with excitement. "That was insane," she said. I shook my head "I wasn't even sure it would work." "But it did." I glanced back briefly. The first chamber was already sealing itself behind us. The massive stone door slowly closed with a loud sound that echoed throughout the maze. I noticed as silver symbols rearranged themselves across the surface then they vanished completely.

I ran deeper into the maze of alleys and side streets, my sensible work shoes slapping against wet pavement. Behind me, I heard shouting. Car doors. Engines. I ran faster. Left turn. Right turn. Through a gap between buildings barely wide enough for my shoulders. Every breath was fire in my lungs, but I didn't stop. Headlights swept the alley ahead. I ducked into a doorway, pressing myself into the shadows as Marcus's BMW crawled past. "Come out, come out, wherever you are," Lawrence's voice carried through the night. "You're only making it worse, baby."

Our eyes met as the door shut behind me. The maze of people that blocked my way earlier to reach room 3254 now were not such a hassle for me to surpass. This time around I just let them swallow me whole. As I reach the doors I can see Leah Meyers, the woman at the front desk, looking at me with the same hazed expression as earlier. I locked eyes with her for just a brief second, before I burst through the glass sliding doors as it opened. The weather is quite hot today, unusually hot. A strange ringing sound started to sound in my ears. How strange?

Miron died on the battlefield. The Starcrest Pack won—but the victory was drenched in blood. Dylan replied Aidan understood him and quickly mind-linked Barton telling him to order the warriors to head home. "Can you actually run, or are you going to be a problem?” "I can run." "You are already limping." "I said I can run." He turned left. I ran. The maze was three floors, connected by stairwells that were not marked on any visible map, so you either found them by moving or you died waiting. The walls were concrete panels on slow hydraulic tracks, moving inward at a rate that was almost imperceptible until suddenly it was not. A corridor that was eight feet wide became six feet, then four, and if you were still in it at two feet, the sensors registered you as eliminated, and the panels completed the job.

The breeze coming in through the tunnel is giving me the shakes. I take a tiny gulp of my own saliva and force myself to move back towards the mouth of the cave but for some reason, my legs are moving too slowly. It is as if they have turned jelly-o. But I force myself to run as fast as I can. The tunnel is long, way longer than I remember it to be and it feels like forever but I finally reach the mouth of the cave. Three bodies greet me, two of which have their brains leaking out and the other….Larry!

Even as small as he was, he seemed to sense that something was terribly wrong. Lawrence paced near the entrance, glancing now and then at his watch before peering through the grimy window that overlooked the dirt road outside. He looked nothing like the polished, well-groomed man I'd seen at family events. His hair was disheveled, his beard was uneven, and his clothes were wrinkled and stained. It was clear that weeks on the run had taken their toll. "You must be hungry," he said suddenly, turning toward me and motioning to a paper bag resting on a makeshift table of wooden crates. "I brought sandwiches."
