“I wanted to, well I was wondering if you… I suppose there’s no right way to ask a person this so I’m just going to come right out with it. Would you be my girlfriend?” “W-what?” I felt completely thrown. “I don’t even know you.” “No, no, no.” Ethan laughed. “Not like that. I just want you to pretend to be my girlfriend.” “Pretend?” I asked, still confused. He knew this was ludicrous, right? “Why would I pretend to be your girlfriend?” “Well actually, I was thinking you’d first start off pretending to be my girlfriend, and then if all goes well in about six months you could pretend to be my fiance.”

Adriana's face turned a little green. Jane spun the bottle once again, and this time, the base was pointing towards me and the neck towards Jane. "What will it be - truth or dare?" I asked. "Dare," replied Jane. I thought for a long time before finally snapping my fingers. "Go grab your grumpy 70-year-old neighbor's underwear!" I commanded. "What? You do realize how creepy that is?" Jane protested. "Yes, and that's where the entertainment comes in," I responded with a grin, causing the other girls to giggle.

I look back at my dad, and we both turn simultaneously toward little Amanda, who’s smiling at us, completely clueless. Dad smiles. "Alright Amanda, we're going to play a game. How about we pretend to be Indians? Does that sound fun?" The little girl claps her hands and laughs. Dad is pleased with this reaction. "Good. You'll be our prisoner, so we’ll tie you to the chair with some sheets, and we’ll be the Indians. Is that okay?" She claps again, so Dad hurries to find some sheets to tie her up. We’re definitely getting reported for this.

The light is low, casting a sensual glow about the room. “What exactly are we doing here?” She asked. “Our relationship is not even real and you want us to stay here!” She added “Relax! At dinner last night I saw your eyes! Was that acting or real?” He asked. “Is all acting please, we signed a contract and we need to focus on it.” she snapped. “ let’s pretend we are still acting,” “relax act your script, we didn’t exclude a hotel act. We can act anywhere.” He replied.

It just seemed like the natural thing to do. “Aunt Wiwee, are they going to fight?” Maggie asked. Lily glanced up to where Maggie was perched on top of Wyatt's shoulders. “They're going to ride toward each other and poke each other with that big metal stick,” Lily explained. Maggie's lower lip began to tremble. “Will they get hurt?” “No, no,” Lily said, rubbing Maggie's back. “This is just pretend. It's like going to a play. It might look like one of them gets hurt, but I promise you that they'll be just fine. They are just pretending.”

It frustrates me that I don’t have it, even if it is my fault. "Let's role-play, Ives," I blurt out, making her turn to look at me with a mix of interest and confusion written on her face, "Let's pretend you never left me seven years ago. You stayed here and you've been mine this whole time. We're a boring married couple and this is just one night of many. This is the same old boring routine we're so tired of."

"Tomorrow night, we're all going to play 'Sleeping Statues' in the living room. From 11:30 to 2:00, we all have to lie down by the tree and pretend to be asleep. No matter what happens, no matter what noises you hear, you can't open your eyes or talk. Can you do that?" Sophie nodded excitedly. "I'm the best at pretending to sleep!
