MY FIRST LOVE

MY FIRST LOVE

she said, her voice stronger than she felt. Nicholas nodded and began typing. The room fell into a tense silence, the soft clicking of keys the only sound as the secure connection came to life. The screen flashed as they accessed the first node, a small, seemingly insignificant system that controlled financial transactions for a series of shell companies. It looked mundane—almost boring—but Lillian knew it was just one piece of a much larger puzzle. “We’ll start here,” Nicholas said. “This system feeds into several other peripheral networks. If we pull it apart, it’ll ripple out, but it’ll take a while for anyone to notice.”

More versions of this, elsewhere, with other people building them. That was when Leo had looked up from what he’d been doing at the end of the table with the expression that meant something had connected. “Groundwork,” he said. The table had looked at him. “That’s the use case I designed it for,” he said. “Not in the abstract. Specifically this. Organizations like this one building the capacity to replicate without losing what makes them themselves. Sharing what they know about how to do it. The knowledge that can’t be in a manual because it lives in practice. That’s exactly what the network is for.”

Which meant dismantling Ashford alone would accomplish very little. Emily looked at Leah again. “Find the outer nodes with the strongest connections.” Leah ran a quick analysis. A few seconds later, several points on the network diagram began glowing brighter than the others. “Here,” she said. Daniel read the names aloud. “International Infrastructure Council.” “North Atlantic Energy Forum.” “Global Transport Strategy Board.” Sofia frowned. “These are legitimate organizations.” Emily nodded. “Exactly.” Billy looked confused. “So what are we saying?” Emily turned toward the window, staring out into the snowstorm.

The Ledger was divided into three primary categories: Financial Assets (The Leash): Hundreds of global financial institutions, detailed with hidden accounts, offshore shadow corporations, and proprietary algorithms used for market manipulation. This network alone controlled nearly 40% of the world's liquid capital, funneled and laundered through shell structures designed by Arthur Thorne decades ago.

The concept: information gathered from all parties, stored centrally, accessible to none without the founder's direct involvement. The library. I looked up from the page. Around me the actual library sat quiet and still in the afternoon light. Shelves of books. The rolling ladder on its brass rail. The green lamp on the reading table. Ryan's library. I looked back at the page. Information gathered from all parties. Stored centrally. Accessible to none without the founder's direct involvement. My father had called his intelligence network the library. I sat very still. Then slowly I looked around the room again.

Even if I had to wait until after I left the pack. Going back up to my room, I set to work on doing some research. I had asked Tate if there was any type of way I could access information on other packs or even just the werewolf community. He showed me a platform that was separate from humans but had pretty much all the information about werewolves I would possibly need. Apparently, our kind had our own server so we can keep up with what is happening around the different parts of the world. There were even some news reports about major events and even a chat room for werewolves. I didn’t think it would have been this convenient.

I will work on a sequel but it will be a bit down the road after I finish some other books. Thank you all for your support with this book. I wasn't expecting so many of you to enjoy it. it was only intended to be a side project, but I will continue the story with Eric for the sequel.

This is the strong female transformation that many authors aim for. The author has done a wonderful job developing the characters, and gives a view of overcoming trauma in a delicate and empowering way. Consistently feminist (hard to do in this niche) and well written with only a few mistakes.
