Luna's Pov I wake up every day dreading that I'm still breathing. A few times a day I find myself thinking"How am I still alive"? This a question I never find the answer to but maybe because... I'm a useless fool... A coward... A slut... A bitch... A dumb whore... At least that's what he tells me. As an eighteen-year-old girl, I am extremely underdeveloped physically and mentally. I can tell from looking at other girls in my neighborhood they all looked healthy while I was a bag of bones.

"Tonight, Nate's taking me to a charity auction. He says he wants to do something good and build up some blessings for my upcoming surgery. Oh, right, both of my kidneys are getting replaced in two days." The moment the door clicked shut behind her, whatever light remained in my eyes flickered out completely. Nathan had money—more than enough to buy Trinity two new kidneys. I let my eyes drift shut, surrendering to the endless dark. … When I opened them again, I saw a body I was very familiar with. Death, the only part of our life already predicted from the moment our fetus is formed. The how’s, when’s and where’s may vary, but we all eventually die. Death is the finale of moments, only when that moment comes it’s a lasting moment, the only moment in our lives that is meant to last.

He has plenty to do on Midgard, especially with that little bundle of joy he has now,” Death said with a glint in his eyes. “Is my life worth it?” Malachi asked him. “You catch on quickly, Malachi. Your blood is royal like Kai’s, and your life is worthier than most,” Death explained. “Okay.” “You haven’t even heard the rest of it,” Death said with amusement in his voice.

"Oh my God!!" That's definitely not what my brain translated. And that was definitely not what I was expecting to hear. This day just took a worse turn. I thought if the day started out good, the day would end well. What the fuck is going on? Why so many problems in life? Why do people die?
