Morning Light and New Silk Raven woke slowly, the tower room bathed in the soft scarlet haze of dawn filtering through heavy curtains. The violet orbs had dimmed to near-invisibility during the night, leaving only the faint glow of the blue-flame hearth. She lay still for a moment—listening with her body to the quiet rhythm of Victoria’s stillness beside her—then slipped from beneath the crimson sheets.

He warned sternly, “They wouldn't believe you anyways.” I'd never been so confused in my entire life. It was pitch black. I couldn't see anything. He laughed again. “It's because you're yet to open your eyes. You looked weird standing and flailing with your eyes closed.” What? “Open your eyes, Dawn.” He commanded. Her eyes fly open, but she sees nothing, pupils blown wide with shock.

A shockwave of silver and gold light erupted from the spring, washing over the valley. The black corruption vaporized. The water shone like liquid diamond again. The red chains around Elias shattered like glass. Maya screamed, staggering back as if struck. Ronan cried out, shielding his eyes from the brilliant light. Elias slumped forward, free. I ran to him, pulling him into my arms. “Father!” He was weak, but he smiled. “Well done, my dawn.” The light faded. The spring glowed, healthy and strong. But the fight wasn’t over.

Leonid stands beside me, eyes roaming around as he tries to spot where Dawn is. “There!” He muse, pointing at the direction and I follow his hands to the actual place he’s pointing at, only to see Dawn in the hands of a man who's nipping her earlobe. Her eyes slammed close and she bits on her lips as though the ministrations is sinking deep onto her bones. Rage ruptures through me like a lava. I fist the rail, my eyes narrowed as I watch and grit my teeth. Maybe I was wrong. Dawn hasn’t realize she belongs to me.

*Lazlo* Dawn seeps in, stretching light toward the bed where she sleeps curled against me. Xelina’s breath is slow, her lashes resting against flushed cheeks, one hand tucked beneath her chin. I could watch her like this for hours–peaceful, safe, mine.
