Lila exhaled a stream of smoke, eyes following the taillights of Leonard’s car as it merged into traffic.
She had been watching him for days now, keeping tabs for her own reasons.
“Hair, huh?” Lila muttered, flicking ash onto the pavement, a sly smile curving her lips. “So that’s your game.”
She ground the cigarette out beneath her heel and turned down the opposite street, already pulling out her phone.
Leonard now sat in the private waiting area of the small, exclusive laboratory, the kind of place where the wealthy paid not for speed, but for silence.
