Trying to avoid tripping over one sounded like a good idea. Lily listened carefully as she moved stealthily from tree to tree, relying on her enhanced vision and hearing to alert her of any danger. Carefully. Slowly. Then she dropped down on the other side with a soft thud.

Lilian came in front of a cross and she must make a choice about her future. “Okay, I will choose my freedom!” Lilian took the left crossway and it led her to an open place outside of the city. When she saw the light she became excited and ran faster. But what she saw after she was out of the cave. She saw something that astonished her.

I have to avenge my death, I have to make them pay for what they’ve all done to me and the only way I can do that is to play a game, a game where no one knows anything about me. “Lily, I am so sorry, I hope they didn’t put you through much trouble?” A familiar voice put an abrupt stop to my pondering and I lifted my head to see Kate, she was one of the maids too and probably the only one with a heart. “No, I’m fine.” I managed a smile as I stood to face her and I saw Kate flash me a painful smile as she closed the gap between us, her eyes carefully scrutinizing me as though searching for bruises.

I added, trying to catch my breath. "You better be," Lily said, crossing her hands under her chest. "I wouldn't have spared you" She said, followed by a loud chuckle. Lily’s POV Today was a success. That truth settled into me slowly as the night went on, as laughter filled the halls of the mansion and glasses clinked again and again. The launch had gone better than I imagined, and the celebration at home only confirmed it. My mother had invited a few of her friends and I invited a few of mine, people I trusted, people who knew me as Lily Carter, not the girl who once ran away from this house with a broken heart.

“Lila, you’re amazing. You know that, right? We’ve always had fun together. There’s no need to overthink this. Let’s just enjoy it while—” “No!” Lila cut him off, her voice rising, echoing slightly in the quiet hallway. “Don’t do that. Don’t you dare try to sweet-talk your way out of this.
