Lily Russell’s POV I almost fainted when I heard the next line. “Your voice alone is already so beautiful, Miss Lily. You also look like someone who won’t back down. Maybe you’re also fun to kiss. Do you fight back when you’re being kissed?” A malicious laugh followed, and my heart beat wildly fast. “Miss Lily, don’t listen to him—ahh!” A voice screamed...Zaid, I couldn’t be mistaken, that was his voice!

I had tried to bury the horror of what happened in Mysticfall, but seeing this machine brought it all screaming back. Technology had evolved so fast. If a machine could mimic a voice this well, then that night with Jess... when she claimed she heard my voice as her eyes were taken... could it have been a trick of the wires? Lily voiced and Celina sighed. "I told you not to sigh, it makes you look like an old woman," a voice spoke up from behind and Lily turned to him noting how familiar the voice sounded. A look of surprise flashed through her eyes as she called out his name. "Gary?"

This time, she answered. “You’re calm,” a woman’s voice observed. Lily’s spine stiffened. “I’ve learned how,” Lily replied. A soft laugh. “Good. Panic would have been disappointing.”

My voice trailed off, and for the first time in my life, I genuinely felt too flustered to speak. But Lily seemed like a smart woman. She nodded, a smile spreading across her face. She looked almost… relieved. “I see,” she said. “Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Acting Luna Ava.” “You as well.” I dipped my head respectfully, watching as Lily turned toward Chris. “Alpha Chris,” she said, “I was actually hoping to speak with you about a specific matter. Could we…?” Chris paused for a moment, shooting me a questioning glance. I nodded politely, and he turned back to Lily. “Certainly,” he said.

"Then who's the other one," Lily said, and the room went very still, because it hadn't occurred to any of them, not fully, until she asked it so plainly, that she might already know something they didn't. "There's another voice sometimes. Quieter than the man from the picture. It doesn't say words exactly. It's more like—" she struggled for the description, her small face screwing up in concentration, "—like when you're really little and you can feel someone standing behind you even before you turn around. It's been there longer than the man from the picture. I just never knew it had a name until just now."

Lily sassed. Her phone rang and she picked it up. "Lily here! How may I help you?" She spoke as if nothing happened a few minutes ago. "Don't you remember me baby girl?" A manly voice spoke from the other side of the phone. "Ugh! Not you again," Lily mumbled rolling her eyes. "Listen Adam," this had Vincenzo’s head whipping in Lily’s direction for a fraction of second with a frown on his face. Why was she talking to this man? Was he her boyfriend or something? The thought did not settle well with him and his grip on the steering wheel tightened.

She let out a moan as his tongue slipped through her parted lips, and she relished in the feeling of being claimed by the Alpha of the most powerful pack in the region. Later on when Lily got back to the Eclipse Pack, she picked out her phone from her purse and dialed one of her connections who could help. The call rang only twice before it was being answered. “Darling you barely call these days.” The French-accented male voice spoke up on the other end.
