The dining room table was covered in maps, laptops, scattered printouts, and half-drunk cups of coffee.
Outside, the sky was still a soft bruised purple, the sun barely peeking above the horizon, but inside this house, war was already underway.
Ford leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, his usual calm now coated in disbelief. “You’re telling me Linda’s been running an international laundering ring through fake charities?”
“Yes,” I said, my voice low, but sure. “She’s evicted children, bribed officials, funnelled money through shell companies, and built a house of cards with bloodstained mortar.”
