Gone were the indoor slippers that had been mine. Oh, Elena, this was such a farce. I set my suitcase down and turned to look at Tracy. "I haven't heard the answer yet. What's the deal with that kid you mentioned?" Tracy's smile hardened. She instinctively let go of Alaric's arm, but he pulled her back and flapped his hand at me dismissively. "It was just a joke, Elena! Don't take it seriously. It was only a game of truth or dare."

She remembered they were enrolled at the same music school when they were kids, yet now he lied through his teeth. Stood in an awkward position, she could only accept her punishment. “Guess, I’d have to drink then.” With that, she took the glass and drank three shots, one after the other. After a few rounds, it was Liam’s turn. “Truth or Dare?” “Truth.” “Aside Nora, who do you think is the most beautiful girl in this room?” The one who asked knew that he would definitely answer Nora had he not excluded her. “None,” Liam answered instantly the moment the question landed.

It's Valentine's Day, and I'm at my desk at the county courthouse when my fiancee, Shelby Smith, walks in to get a marriage license with her male best friend, Liam Pearson. She slides her ID across the counter and offers a casual excuse. "Rowen, don't be mad. I lost a game of Truth or Dare. The penalty is being married to Liam for just one day. I'm bringing him back tomorrow for a divorce." Liam, who has a woman's jacket draped on his shoulders, pipes up with a snide grin. "I don't think Rowen is going to process this for us. After all, he's always had a problem with me. I just don't get men—" Before he can finish, I slam the official stamp down on their application form. "Why wouldn't I?

I feel disappointed at the same time if Pyke doesn’t want a virgin partner. Why do I feel disappointed? It’s not that we have to have sex while we are posing for the photoshoot, right? Oh, my God! “What?” they ask. Did I say it out loud? “What?” I ask back. “You just say Oh, my God,” Bianca answers. “Oh, I should pretend like we’re enjoying in bed, right?” I ask, demanding answers from them. They nod. “Do we have to be both nude?” “It depends,” Bianca answers.

Liam spun the bottle some more, and just when I thought the game wasn't that bad, one end of the bottle stopped in front of me. “Alright Sis,” Liam drawled, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “What's it going to be? Truth or Dare?”

I sat on the couch. He looked at me. “Truth or dare?” “Truth,” I said. “Did you think about tonight all day?” “Yes,” I answered. “I could not focus on anything else.” “My turn. Truth or dare?” “Truth.” “Are you wet right now?” “Yes,” I said. “Soaked.” He nodded. “My turn. Truth or dare?” “Dare.” “Tell me your darkest fantasy. The one you think about when you are alone. While I touch my cock and you touch your pussy. We watch each other, no rushing.”

We end up in a circle on the floor like we’re at some middle school sleepover except the whiskey is expensive and the stakes feel higher for some reason. Nash goes first. “Xavier. Truth or dare.” “Dare. Obviously.” “I dare you to tell us the last person you hooked up with.” Xavier grins. “That’s not a dare, that’s a truth question disguised as a dare.” “Answer it anyway.” “James from calc. Two weeks ago in the darkroom after school.” Cole nearly spits out his drink. “You fucked someone in the darkroom?” “Not fucked. Just messed around. There’s a difference.”

The guys were fanning themselves in the unbearable heat, all of them in sleeveless shirts, and I kept stealing glances at the two of them like my eyes were committing a sin. Sylina brought a few bottles of tequila and wine, pulling them out one by one. She set a bottle in the center and explained that whoever it pointed to would have to choose between truth or dare. If someone refuses, they don’t get to choose their consequence. Someone else in the group will decide for them. The bottle spins, and the first one it lands on is me. “Truth or dare?” Hayden asked. “Truth,” I said. “Have you ever loved someone? And if you did, then who?” His tone was serious, his eyebrow raised.

Games and arguments. Eventually...Truth or dare. Which was exactly as terrible as expected. “Dangerous,” Lily whispered. “Very.” Three rounds later somebody dared a hockey player to jump into the lake. He did. Coach almost had a heart attack. Another round. More chaos. Then suddenly Daniel leaned forward. His eyes landed directly on me. Uh oh. “Truth or dare, Ava?” The circle immediately quieted. I already hated this. “Truth.” Daniel smirked. Coward. “Who was your biggest mistake?”

I grabbed a bottle of cola for Athena, a bottle of beer for myself, and two bags of chips before we took our seats on a fallen log away from the loud music. A few minutes later, Diana called everyone together for a game of truth or dare, and we all gathered in a circle, asking questions. The majority of the girls selected truth, while the majority of the guys chose dare. When it was my turn, a football player asked me, "Truth or dare, "Dare," I replied "Pick any girl and make out with her for five minutes." I turned to kiss Athena, completely my dare. Diana gave us a sideways glance, but I ignored her. Tonight, I wasn't in the mood for her drama.
