Liam stood over her, breathing hard, eyes on the viewport as the valley disappeared beneath them.
The woman in the pilot’s seat turned slightly, her face hidden beneath a hood. “You really don’t know when to die, do you, West?”
Liam froze. “Morgan?”
The hood dropped. The face that turned toward them was scarred but unmistakable.
“I told you,” she said, her voice low and steady, “you’d need me when the world started ending again.”
Ava stared, speechless. Liam’s mouth parted, but no words came.
Morgan looked at Ava, her expression unreadable. “And you… you’ve been busy.” Her eyes flicked to Ava’s stomach. “That child Victoria’s not gone, is she?”
