Her body instantly shifted into a huge frog, and it spat water in Kai’s face. He fell flat on his ass, as the frog jumped into the water and disappeared under the surface. I laughed out loud. “THAT. IS. THE. FUNNIEST. THING….I….. HAVE…EVER SEEN!” I barely got the words out.

It started small, like a spark, then grew, filling every nerve, every fibre of her being. “Go! Go now, Clara!” her grandmother urged, her eyes glistening with tears and pride. Before Clara could question it, the warmth exploded outward. Time itself seemed to shiver. The firelight warped and stretched, the screams became distant echoes, and the ground beneath her feet disappeared. One moment, she was on scorched earth. The next, she was falling. The world around her blurred, colours and shapes twisting in impossible ways. She felt weightless, suspended between moments, suspended between worlds. Then, as suddenly, as it began, it ended.

** Paige’s POV ** By late afternoon, the tension of the meeting and knowing we have a traitor fades into a slight niggling at the back of my mind. We take Jaxon down to the pond for a while. The water ripples softly with the slightest breeze. Jax crouches at the edge, poking at the mud with a stick while he tells me in great detail how he’s going to build a frog hotel. “Look! Ara finds it hard to accept so she demands to change her current voice, but the system she is bound to have said she can't do anything about it as it will forever stay on her living in this novel world
