Rich Love
I muttered.
He gave me a doubtful look.
Then, to my surprise, he pulled something out of his pocket.
A lollipop.
He handed it to me.
I blinked up at him, confused.
“Put this in your mouth,” he said, smirking. “It might help you not scream.”
I hesitated, then took it.
I wasn’t used to kindness.
At least, not from people in this school.
I unwrapped the lollipop and placed it between my lips, letting the sweet, artificial flavor distract me.
