He had run out of ideas about where Denise could be.
Her phone was also switched off.
From a distance, he saw Denise’s mother, Ruby, come down from the apartment.
He hurriedly rushed over and asked, “Mrs. Summer, where’s Denise? I went back to the school to find her, but she wasn’t there.”
Ruby stared at him blankly.
“She probably hasn’t gotten to school yet. The train ride takes four hours.”
Corbin felt as though he had been struck by lightning.
So, that really was Denise at the station.
