Their irises glowed faintly, reflecting light like some otherworldly fire, locked onto me with sharp focus. They weren’t just looking at me. They were evaluating me. “Are we even sure she’s alive?” the one with stormy gray eyes muttered coldly. “She looks dead already.” “She just moved, Ragnar,” came the cold reply. My eyes shifted toward the speaker, the one who had just pushed his glasses back up the bridge of his nose. He spoke with a calm, serious tone. His glowing green eyes were locked onto mine, and he seemed to let the light within them flare deliberately as he examined me.

It rips my weapon away from my hands, but I unsheathe another from my thigh and hurl it at its neck. It shrieks and falls, to its death. No time, no time, no time. And my eyes widen in horror when I suddenly notice something in the distance. A Ghost, one of the largest I've seen. Its eyes are only trained on the Firstblade, ramming through any soldiers in its way. It must have been ordered to take him down— and him only. It's too fast, so much faster than I am. My legs burn as I slip through the mess of fighting, face ashen with desperation.

Then opened them, trying to get used to the light of the room. The doctor came closer. "Don't worry, kid, I came prepared. I'm using dark glasses. And there is no fighting back, my entire being now belonging to him and his power. That is, until I'm abruptly pulled from the void, blinking as my vision returns, seeing the stranger has been pulled viciously back by Hale.
