He looked down at the woman like she were the sun that crossed the horizon, painting his world with color. For some reason, I felt like I could relate to that. Violet’s blush worsened, and I realized why when she flipped the book over, hiding the cover. “It’s a…love story. The couple on the front are from families that hate each other.” She was so bashful, fidgeting with her hair as she spoke, that I had to know more. Not wanting to overwhelm her further, I opted for the armchair instead of her bed. “Read it to me.”

His hands venture over her curved body, exploring. They pull apart and open their eyes. They stare at each other, deep into each other's eyes. Hussaini's full of wonder and love, Nafisa's full of curiosity and passion. No words are spoken but a story worthy of them is communicated. He leans in a softly kisses up and down her neck. She lets out little whimpers of anticipation. He works his way back to her tender, smooth lips. As they kiss she rolls him over and lies on top of his strong, muscular body.

I replaced them thinking I’d look for a key another time, surely it was around here somewhere. I heard a distant door shut and quickly replaced the books, save the love story. I hurriedly went over to the bed, sitting down pretending to read but no one came. Strange. I became immersed in the book and for a while, I forgot all my troubles. The book was bittersweet, two people so in love, yet they were not meant to be. With each page, my heart was thumping wanting to know what would happen next. No, you dimwit! Don’t push her away!

The journal had once belonged to the bookstore’s original owner, a woman who had spent decades recording the love stories of couples who met among the shelves. There were stories of first glances, second chances, impossible distances, and lifelong promises. Dozens of them. Some joyful. Some heartbreaking. Every one unforgettable.

It was then he got caught by my Mom to be cheating on her. It was a big blow for my Mom because several times he had promised to end the relationship but only for her to find out after a few months that the mistress was transferred to another house only. We grabbed a corner table, Goose still stealing glances from half the café. “So, what’s this book about?” Ace asked once we sat. “Cat shifters,” I said without hesitation. “Epic romance. Sarcastic hero, rambly heroine, lots of claws and passion.” Ace raised a brow. “Sounds familiar.” My cheeks burned. “Coincidence.”

Kain whispers into my ear, his breathing heavy as he holds back his wants and desires while my body gets used to being invaded like this. Nodding hazily, I mumble an almost incoherent, “I love you, Kain.” “I love you too, Liam.” Kain’s gentle confession, followed by a passionate but tender kiss, has me lost completely in the moment's bliss. Even the pain from this being my first time pales compared to the joy I feel from finally being claimed by my lover.

I replied and she smiled again. "No one would ever believe us or our story. That you married me forcefully. We look more romantic than the couples who have done love marriages." She said and giggled. I chuckled hearing her. She was right. No one would ever believe us. Not our future kids and grandkids. No one would believe our Stupid Love Story.
