Fated Tragedy
“Don’t go down there! Michail—get up here right now!”
But I couldn’t stop. My legs kept moving, each step heavier than the last. By the time I reached the bottom, the smell of old dust and something fouler hit my nose.
I began rifling through Loviatar’s clothes, my hands trembling with a mix of anger and dread. And then, under a torn piece of fabric, my fingers brushed something cold, brittle.
I pulled it out and stared.
A skeleton—small, delicate feet, unmistakably a rabbit’s. The bones looked old, snapped crudely at the legs, as if broken on purpose. My stomach lurched.
