THE LUNA HE SHOULDN'T HAVE REJECTED
The air around her shimmered black, and the chill of it made my breath catch.
She laughed.
Not the soft laugh from before — this one was deeper, darker, and it rolled through the glade like thunder.
“You think you can hurt me?” she asked, her voice echoing in ways that didn’t make sense.
My claws flared hotter, my skin sparking as I tried to push through, but my power stuttered and hissed against hers, sputtering out like fire in water.
Her laughter only grew louder.
“Little wolf,” she whispered, leaning close enough I could feel her breath on my cheek, though her lips didn’t move. “You should learn to direct your anger somewhere else.”
