“That man. Who was he?” Luca shifted slightly, wincing as he adjusted his position. “No idea. But he wasn’t just some low-level informant. The way he moved… he was trained.” Brayden’s fingers tapped against his knee. “Trained by who?” Luca exhaled. “That’s the million-dollar question.” Silence settled again. Then Luca spoke, his voice quieter this time. “You ever get the feeling we’re only seeing the surface of something much bigger?” Brayden’s jaw tightened. “All the time.”

That’s not unsettling at all. I take a shaky step closer. “Who put you here?” He licks his lips. “The Master.” My breath catches like someone yanked a thread through my lungs. “The Master?” I ask. “Who is that?” His eyes gleam. “Well, who else? Other than the reputable, respected, and beloved Headmistress of the Academia of the Moon.” I freeze. The room tilts. “No,” I whisper, looking at Luca, whose face is just as pale as I feel. “She’s helping us. She helped Elijah. She gave him—”

“You haven’t told us everything. What the hell is going on, Luca? Why are those creatures after me?” Luca stood across from me, his eyes locked on mine. For a moment, there was a flicker of something in his expression—something I couldn’t place. But just as quickly as it appeared, it was gone, replaced by the cold mask he had been wearing since we met again. “They’re not after you specifically,” Luca replied, his voice low and steady. “They’re after power. And right now, they believe you’re the key to getting it.” I frowned, confusion knotting my stomach. “What do you mean, the key? I’m just an omega. I don’t—”

He looked at me then…not as an opponent, but as someone standing at the same cliff. “If this is war,” he said quietly, “then we fight it like scientists, not saboteurs.” The city shimmered behind him, all mirrors and secrets. “We already declared war,” I said. “She just accepted.” His expression softened. “You saved me in that stairwell.” “I owed you symmetry,” I said. “We’re even.” “Not yet,” he said. “Not until your truth doesn’t need defending.” *** Night at the safehouse. Luca processed partial data from the stolen drive. Fragmented reports emerged-project titles, offshore subsidiaries, and one chilling header:

“We find a way in. We take what we need. We burn everything else to the ground.’” Luca let out a low chuckle. “Y’see, this is why I like watching you work, brother. No hesitation. No second-guessing. Just pure carnage.” Maya turned to him sharply. We don’t have time for your bullshit, Luca. If you know anything — anything at all — that can help us get in, this is the time to say it.’” Luca sighed dramatically but nodded. “Fine. The Order’s headquarters is in a location that you’d never even guess.”

"I'm the master of this game. And if you try anything cunning, I'll expose you to Luca." A heavy silence fell broken only by the sound of the door swinging open. Luca stepped inside, his presence commanding, eyes narrowing in suspicion. "Expose… what, exactly?" he asked, with his voice deep and dangerous....

LUCA I stand over the man, my shadow swallowing his broken form as sirens wail in the distance. I have already arranged the files. Every document and digital trail points directly to this "shifty-eyed worm" as the sole architect of the fraud. He shakes on the floor, making wet, gurgling sounds. "I won't let you down, boss. I'll do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of this." I had a nagging feeling that something was not right. As I was speaking with Luca, I could sense someone lurking around, listening to our conversation. It was as if my wolf had become hyper-vigilant, sensing an intruder. I paused for a moment, my eyes narrowed as I tried to pick up on any sounds or scents that might give away the intruder's identity.
