Then he picked up the rescue record. The old paper crackled in his hand. At the top was Elara’s photograph, younger and smiling into the light. Beneath it, in a neat official script, was her name. Elara. The date matched the northern fire. Everything inside him seemed to shatter at once. He remembered smoke and heat. He remembered a thin back bent beneath his weight, a voice in his ear forcing him to stay awake.

I screamed at them. They all scattered, muttering their apologies as they went. I didn’t wait to hear any more. I went straight to Lucia’s room, the door still ajar. The air inside was stale and her scent barely hangs in the air. I pressed my face to her pillow, desperate to find something, anything, but it was fading. When I opened my eyes again, the world had changed. The bed was gone and in its place I saw a ring of fire. Lucia knelt in the middle, her wrists were bound and she was bleeding slightly from the mark on her neck. A man stood beyond the flames, tall, calm, eyes like molten gold.

"I don't want to relive that now, Elijah. I don't want to be reminded of the events of one year ago, where my life changed one hundred and eighty degrees. I don't want that to happen now. Not when I'm on my revenge mission against Harrison. Not when I was trying to become a much stronger person than the old Luciana Edith. The Luciana Edith who cried in fear in the basement, when her entire family was so cruelly slaughtered. Because right now, Luciana Edith is gone, Elijah. She is dead. I am Lucia Hazel Gray now. "He deserved it. He touched what is mine after I warned him to stay away. Believe me when I tell you I'm a changed person. At least I'm good for baby Nova. I can't say much for you." Lucia punched my shoulders playfully. She walked away but stopped abruptly, turning to me. "Next time you mention my stay at the psych ward, you would have a space there. Then you can know how it feels to be betrayed by the person you trust. I have killed before, and got away with it. What makes you so sure that I wouldn't try again and still get away?" Lucia asked, a smirked on her lips as she continued on her way without me, leaving me standing all alone.

His endearment term caught Isla off guard for a few moments until she recovered herself and turned away to leave but Lucian had already noticed the softness inside her silence. II Lucia waited for Carolina. She learned that today is her book signing. She released a new werewolf-inspired book and she is going to launch it in this popular bookstore. She touched the hard, metal thing inside her bag. She is ready for Carolina. “It is time for my revenge Carolina,” she whispered. Carolina got out of her BMW car, together with Wilgreg and Atty. Ninia. They walked together going inside the shopping mall, where the bookstore, where she is going to launch her new book is located.

Almost. It was foolish of them to believe that I would actually betray South City that I had been in for an entire year, loving and growing with them because they offered me a trip out of the pack, my privacy and some arrogant she-wolf who reaches above her means. Bella handed Hope to me and immediately went back to her laptop, fingers flying as she coordinated the defense. “They’re not getting in,” Lucian vowed, voice low and deadly. “Not tonight. Not ever.” I looked up at him, tears slipping down my cheeks. “We just brought a new baby home. Julian’s only hours old. Hope is still so small. And they’re burning our home around us.” Lucian cupped my face, thumbs brushing away my tears.
