Then, finally— Lucifer sighed. “Fine,” he muttered, waving a hand as though granting a trivial request. “Some months ago…” He shifted slightly, resting his chin on his knuckles again. “Your brother decided to visit the human world.” He scoffed lightly. “I suppose he wanted to check in on you… and the things you’re so clearly enjoying there.” Lucas’s entire body stilled. I watched him, my arms wrapped around myself, feeling vulnerable and exposed. “You shouldn’t be here,” I whispered, though I made no move to ask him to leave. “If Ethan finds out… if anyone sees you coming and going…” “Let them see,” Lucifer said softly, turning to face me, his gaze intense and unwavering. “I am his older brother. Visiting while he is away is normal. There is no rule that says I cannot check on my brother’s home and the woman living in it. Only we know what is really happening between us.”

I decided the best way to settle things would be to go to her house and talk to her in person. When I arrived, though, Emily wasn’t there. Instead, I found her brother, Luke, lounging on the couch with his usual air of disinterest. “She went out with some guy,” he said, barely glancing at me. “Her ex-boyfriend, I think.” My stomach dropped. “Does this ex-boyfriend have a name?” “I think it’s Carter,” he replied with a shrug. “But honestly, I don’t care. It’s weird enough having a vampire hanging around the house. Emily doesn’t even like vampires. You probably knew that, though.”

The two haven't really being in good terms and when William got the message from Alpha Coleman that a human was attacked by a werewolf and has lost his life, the Alpha told William in his message that he should check his family to find out who the predator was. Lucas is Luthur's elder brother whom his parents disowned after finding out that he ditched his bride on his on his wedding day at the altar.
