Abel crouches low, flashlight tilted away so it doesn’t blind her.
He scans the floor first, checking for wires, sensors, or just anything out of place. His other hand slips into the duffel bag, pulling out a compact scanner, the silence in the cavern stretches long as the device hums while he waves it around, hoping to catch something that will reveal that the entire place is rigged, or that something is slightly out of place.
“Clear,” Abel finally murmurs, frowning. “No explosives, no trip lines and no sensors. It’s just her in here.”
